Recommended Posts

I want to see more photos of shunters in action, new and old but older steam generation the better. i like to see the clothes too.

Does 2000? or 2001? qualify as "old" Mike?

Good old Scissors... a cut above the rest...! Bescot is like a ghost town these days, we have a night job at Rugby which involves sitting around Bescot Yard for up to five hours before departure, I sometimes go for a wander amongst the weeds and think of the good times there...

I agree it's tragic what the downturn in DB traffic has done to Bescot, when I was there from 1999 to 2000 the place was still busy during a daytime and manic on a Night turn, here are some more Bescot shots just for you Rugd1022

Excellent stuff Simon! Stevie Wheeler is still there, saw him a couple of weeks ago when I was working 6V25 to Hinksey, I'm going there again tonight to work it as well. Do you remember 'Mighty White'...?

If you see Stevie, mention me to him (if you mention a pink dressing gown, he'll know me  :beee: ), I don't recall "Mighty white" unless I knew him by another name...

Great stuff - this and the other recent posts are exactly what I think of as 'the human side of the railway'.  Real railwaymen doing real railway work the way it once was.
