Any danger of 40106 coming out to play any time soon?

Currently it is having a V&P as it was towards the top end of the mileage.  The staff have also been doing the same on 1450 and getting things ready for Gala. Now that has gone I'm sure it will come along, especially being such a useful (if noisy) engine.

Thanks.

What's a V&P?

I assume we're talking of the Ivatt 4 43106? It is having a Valve & Piston exam at the moment, although this revealed serious damage to the valve heads and valve chest bores, so repairs will take longer than hoped.

Ah, no. 40106. EE class 4, not Ivatt class 4!

Yes, I wondered... I've no idea what a diesel related V&P is, though.

Well I guess diesel do have them - just rather more !

Bad news for Diesel fans and good news for Steam fans! This weekend has all steam services with some loco changes at Kidderminster due to Platform One run round loop being out of use. Full details are on the SVR website. Looking forward to my visit this Saturday.

On Friday 22nd last week, Stourport Triangle resident GWR Hand Crane 446 and Match Truck ex-BR Conflat ADB707261 were pulled out. Currently at Bewdley Yard awaiting moving to Arley where GWR 446 will be cosmetically restored. The Conflat will be swapped with GWR 813 Fund owned wagon, GWR 'Rotank' 2501. Headed down to Bewdley this morning to snap a few shots of 446 and it is remarkable to see bar the Caution sign missing, 446 has still got alot of the original plates still attached.

Aah, so that's where it came from! Popped into Bewdley whilst on family duties on Saturday and noticed the change of stock in the yard. Many thanks for the explanation and intentions regarding what to do with the crane etc. An interesting set of trucks!

The others which include LMS Brake Van 730866, Cadbury Van 346, GWR Mink A 93045, GWR Gunpowder Van 58725 and ESSO Tank 2686 have gone up to Arley for the time being. I assume this is because of the Hand Crane coming to Bewdley and there being not enough room at the moment in time in the yard for all the wagons. The Hand Crane has been in that position since my first photo of it back in 2008, although I know it's been there longer than that.

Hi.....

It'll be interesting to have this resident with us at Arley, and to see the progress of its restoration.....?

Maybe if it's okay and there' s no objection from all concerned, being there regularly, I could post images of this restoration

Regards always....

Spent a few hours today at Bewdley. Main priority for today was to get a few shots of last built Manning Wardle 0-6-0 Saddle Tank 2047 'Warwickshire' who has been moved down to Bewdley along with her boiler, smokebox and saddle tank (currently on GWR 'Loriot' N Machinery Wagon 42343) awaiting to swap places with GWR Large Prairie 4150 who will go to Bridgnorth to complete her overhaul.

Secondly whilst checking today's stats, I realised I had hit 3 million views!! This target was hit on Monday 8th last week. As always I want to say thank you to everyone who follows and favourites my photos on Flickr. I also want to especially say thank you to railway modellers (who I originally started doing this for) for having used my photos for reference and also linking to my photos in comments on here. Please do keep doing so everyone. Again thanks :)

Another good day on the Valley. Made even better by the arrival of our latest visitor from the West Somerset Railway, GWR Modified Hall 6960 Raveningham Hall. As part of a loco swap between the WSR and SVR, 6960 has come to the SVR whilst SVR resident GWR 7802 Bradley Manor will be going to the WSR. 7802 has headed down to the WSR today and will be there until early October 2019. This swap enables the WSR to have a ‘Blue’ route loco, whilst the SVR has the heavier ‘Red’ route loco.

I look forward to seeing the 'Ratbag' in action now...

Hi.....

As a regular volunteer on the SVR at Arley, although I'll miss seeing 'our dear friend Bradley', 'Old Rat Bag' will be a welcome sight and sound along 'The valley' this summer season and during the Autumn Gala...

Regards always....

And a bit of a homecoming as 6960 was first restored from Barry condition at the Valley...

I spent a very nice day on the SVR yesterday. Spending this evening and tomorrow evening on the Mid Hants Real Ale Train as guard.

Here are two photos I took yesterday. I will have to wait until tomorrow to put two more up due to the limitations now in place.
