I think at one point I had virtually the entire working loco stock of the SVR.

That was in the early 1980s. All RTR and mostly Mainline with a few Hornby. Some renamed and numbered now though.

3205

4930

5764

7812

7819

5000

5690

46521

75069 The only one renumbered from RTR. The Mainline one was 75006.

I see that there are no trains between Kidderminster and Highley from today until Thursday. Just VERY glad I didn't book an advance rail ticket from London for any of the three days as I would have been very unhappy to have arrived at Kidderminster to find no trains on the SVR!

Yes, there's some filming taking place between Kidderminster and Arley but everything else is strictly confidential. Been a while since we were last used for a film, IIRC 'The Black Prince' in 2013.

Following on from last week and the incident with the tree, I paid another visit to the SVR today. All good as always and was great to ride behind 6960 Raveningham Hall for the first time since she arrived at the SVR. As I only did 10 photos last week, I have combined today and last week's selection together.

I had a fantastic day at the Severn Valley today. It was the first time I’ve been since I was about 10 so I didn’t remember much about it. Locos today were Taw Valley, 4144, Raveningham Hall and 43106 was top and tailing with the prairie (one trip from Bridgenorth to Kidderminster and back).

I heard the guard on one train saying that 75069 is having bogie repairs. Something to do with the fallen tree last week I think.

Completely forgot to post my photos from my trip down to Didcot last week to see GWR 1450 in her last week at Didcot, prior to her returning to the SVR for the upcoming Autumn Gala, where she will be taking part alongside Gala visitors 76017 (Mid Hants), 34092 'City of Wells' and 30541.

Besides seeing 1450, I was able to snap a few shots of former SVR resident, GWR D62 Non-Corridor Brake Third Carriage 3755 in her beautiful Chocolate and Cream livery.

Hi Guys.....

Thought you may be interested in these views of today's 'riding of the cushions', a very rare occurrence even though twice a week I am volunteering at Arley, even so couldn't resist a three hour stint at Arley on the return to reunite myself with the car at Bridgnorth, recommend the Rail Art exhibition 2019 at Kidderminster. brilliant artwork on display....

Similarly there was an equally brilliant display of locomotives in the yard this morning at Bridgnorth.....!

Cheers Bob - cracking photos

We did the Fish and Chip special yesterday evenong - Jimbo got a bollocking at the ticket office when he asked for tickets for the Fish and Chip special, he was told it is the Scenic Land Cruise! Well it was dark by the time we got to Bridgnorth so not much scenery to see...but two tawny owls hooting at each other in the trees behind the MPD headshunt were great to hear.

That shed yard line up was still there as per your photo except 75069 had shunted over nearer the station and clearly in steam which made me wonder if she was back in traffic ... and your photos confirm that.

37688 was loco on F&C and put up a great show.

SVR as excellent as ever....cant wait to see what is rolled out for the 50 year celebration next year.

A fact for the day. If you were to pay our volunteers who are operating the railway over the Autumn Steam Gala from drivers, firemen, cleaners, station staff, guards, TTIs, signalmen, etc it would cost over £64,000. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the railway #valueofvolunteering . To all volunteers no matter what you do. Thank you

Hello Guy...

Just a few (albeit) very poor 'snapshots' of a very busy gala Saturday on the SVR...

I've just finished uploading my photos from Thursday's Preview Day this evening... having to take my time with uploading my photos. Really enjoying the Gala and the three visitors we have had the pleasure of seeing on the Valley these last few days :)

We went on Friday 20th.  Great stuff, especially the night running.  Bridgnorth station with three or four engines simmering in the dark was magical.  The driver of the 1959 from Bewdley to Bridgnorth was absolutely thrashing that standard Class 4 - I wouldn't be surprised if a few tubes needed re-expanding later!

Some engines were in steam but not running on Thursday - were they spares?  The 28xx and a pannier tank at Bewdley, and something at Bridgnorth too, I think.

Also got a reasonably-priced SR wagon "D" plate from the stall at Hampton Loade.  I already had plates for the rest of the Big Four but SR ones are harder to find; it was primarily a passenger railway.

To answer your questions yes there were spare engines the 28 at Bewdley and the pig at Bridgnorth, as you may know the Q had some issues and had to be replaced by the 28 and later the pig.

I would be amazed if the driver was really 'thrashing' the engine as it does not fit with the standards we are expected to drive to, although that is not to say it was not putting on a good display, it seemed quite noisy.  There is something so different about gala with engines coming and going at different times and a very different operating atmosphere.

Thursday had a smaller timetable than Friday onwards as well.

What will our 50th year gala be next year, well fingers crossed for 2968 and 4930 for a start, 29 has of course not been out too long, whereas Hagley went out in 1986 before many of our current footplate staff were born!
