Attractions include: Intensive steam and diesel train service, featuring 1874-built Bellerophon on local services. Behind the scenes at Bridgnorth: Locomotive Works, Boilershop and Signalbox Behind the scenes at Bewdley: Carriage & Wagon Yard and Bewdley North Signalbox. Behind the scenes at Kidderminster: Diesel Depot and Signalbox. Over 30 model railway layouts on display in Kidderminster Diesel Depot and The Engine House, Highley. Kidderminster's Coalyard Miniature Railway open on both days, with the Paddock Railway at Hampton Loade in steam on Sunday. Cream Tea Service in our observation saloon. Grab yourself a bargain at our second-hand model railway stall situated in the Locomotive Works at Bridgnorth. The stall is selling the model railway collections of two long-standing Bridgnorth volunteers; Ken Quanborough and Mike Parker, both of whom have passed away. With Ken's, all the money goes to the Charitable Trust and with Mike's 50% goes to the Charitable Trust. So far, the stall has raised £4k for the Charitable Trust in selling the model railway items. (come along and say hello) Model railways include: Upper Studley: the terminus of a country branch near Gloucester in about 1961. Wantage: a homage to the Wantage Tramway as it was in the mid-thirties modelled in 3mm fine scale. Fair T Middlin: 1950/60s fictional industrial area in the North of England. Hackworth: a fictitious loop off the Great Central mainline used predominantly for coal traffic. Bridge Norton: '0' gauge authentic sounds of the mid-seventies corporate blue era in the Western Region. Dagnell End: 1960s on the Southern Region in the changeover years from steam to diesel and electric. Little Kidmore Wharf: a small wharf and goods yard serving a jam, pickle and vinegar manufacturer. It's All White: it's deep winter on the moors, and the double mainline, junction and goods yard are under a blanket of snow. Arley: our very own station at Arley in '00' gauge, depicting the Great Western Railway or preservation era. Brewery Lane: an industrial scene modelled in '009', depicting the period of austerity in post-war Britain. Town & Country: after taking 5 years to build, this layout is based on pure imagination and not on any particular part of the country. Brynderi: through station with a small branchline and goods yard set in the 1950s. Much Snoreing: the sleepy old market town of Much Snoreing where the Great Western Mainline meets to the little branch line. Ridge Lane: loaded stone wagons are bought down from the quarry and handed over to the larger narrow gauge locomotives in the shunting area. Mannin Middle: by the summer of 1964, the Isle of Man steam railway was a shadow of its former self, with the Foxdale Branch seeing few passengers. Woltersdorfer Strassenbahn: a tramway in East Berlin from the early 1900s to the present day. Rolleston-On-Dove: 'EM' gauge layout portraying the station at Rolleston-On-Dove on the ex-North Staffordshire line from Burton. Heybridge Wharf: a fictitious inland wharf somewhere in Suffolk. Midsummer End: set in the mid-1940s, the layout is a fictional village terminus at the end of a branchline with the sights and sounds of the Great Western Railway. Atherley Narrows: 'HO' scale Canadian Pacific in Southern Ontario in the 1990s, built around a swing bridge. Willowbrook Marsh: a small goods depot and maltings complex, situated on the borders of the Midland and Eastern regions of British Railways during the mid 1950-60’s period. Afon Adit: a gold mine somewhere in Mid Wales. Margate Road: double track through station in '00', including a small goods yard. Corwenna: inspired by the Wenford Bridge Branch in Cornwall, the fictional layout is served by Pannier Tanks and Beattie Well Tanks. Hampton End: a small branchline serving a small village saved by preservationists, and now running foreign engines and stock. Gravelly Oak: an imaginary London Midland commuter terminus on the outskirts of the West Midlands. Baggies TMD: Based in the West Midlands, Baggies TMD is a fictional EWS depot around the start of the 2000’s on a cold winter’s day at dusk. Illie Town: a layout based in the Midlands, served by London Midland, Chiltern and East Midlands Trains passenger services, alongside a steel warehouse and a two road depot and fuelling point. Amiens 1918 – Tracks & Trenches: set during the Hundred Days Offensive Battle, this scene depicts a re-captured Artillery Battery, now an Allied field headquarters and supplydepot. Stokesay: ‘N’ gauge layout based on the Welsh Marches line at Craven Arms Station in the 1980s and 1990s, running authentic scheduled services. A Remote Depot: ‘00’ gauge loading facility where every part of the process is modelled and fully operational – from delivery by road via tipper lorry, to the loading shovel filling the wagons before they’re taken away by rail. Orchard Road: fictitious diesel depot based in Devon between 1975 and 1983, with some sound-fitted locomotives. Southwick: it's the end of steam on BR's Southern Region somewhere in Hampshire, and diesels are slowly taking over from steam. Baggies TMD: Based in the West Midlands, Baggies TMD is a fictional EWS depot around the start of the 2000’s on a cold winter’s day at dusk. Chollerford: ‘00’ gauge layout based on Humshaugh Station which was situated on the former Border Counties/North British line from Hexham to Riccarton Jcn. Statler Waldorf Strassenbahn: viewed through a window, ‘HO’ articulated trams make their way past buildings somewhere in Germany. On the stall in the shed we have lots of new Hornby and Bachmann engines at sensible prices, Bachmann coaches, unboxed at £15 each, locos are from 28xx,West Country,700,B12, D16, J15, M7s, Grange, Pannier, 42xx, 52xx (Sorry that's now sold) , USA Tank (KWVR) C class, 1F, 1P 0-4-4, 4f, and many more. With the Trust needing this year to raise £275,000 for Falling Sands viaduct they are launching their 'Helping hands for falling sands viaduct. They aim to do this from supporters, members of the public, businesses and grant making organisations which will help us to unlock a further £1 million from the Heritage Lottery fund. This means we will be able to carry out essential repairs to Falling Sands viaduct. People will be able to sign up at the Open House event to donate and have your name added to the SVR's first ever donation wall which will go on display at the Engine House Visitor Centre, at Highley early next year. Alternatively its easy to make a donation and add a name to the wall online via the new Trust Website at svrtrust.org.uk . If you came and bought from us, thank you we have raised a good amount of money for the Charitable Trust today. We are in the shed at Bridgnorth tomorrow from 10am till 4pm - I've dug out more things, Comet coach sides and underframes, OO society detailing kits for Mk1 coaches, various Gibson and other loco fittings, a Pannier and Castle detailing kit, various tenders. We have also added some complete kits like a Westward West Country, DMR K1, Crownline std 5. What we raise will directly help with the appeal to restore Falling Sands viaduct, which launched today. Also managed to pick up some Powsides GWR, LMS and LNER Containers for only £12 which isn't bad. GWR 813 was out today on test runs today following some work she has had in order to rectify problems she has had since returning from the Kent and Sussex. BobM Posted April 29, 2018 Share Posted April 29, 2018 (edited) 'Life on the SVR' isn't all about loco's and waving a flag in a uniform.....we moved 15 tons of ash today, eventually this covering part of the (back) yard and concrete sleepers of siding No.2 at Arley....... Thankfully ash is obviously not as heavy or tiring to shift as ballast...! Started off in a heap like this.... ended the day like this....! Job done....
