Saw both WC's on Saturday, a stirring sight if ever there was one!

Spent most of the time chasing this fine machine though...

Afternoon all. Firstly apologies for the rushed post this morning but I had to get back down to the Valley to get some more photos of the visiting diesels BR Class 17 D8568 and BR Class 52 D1015 Western Champion. Both diesels have arrived for the upcoming Diesel Gala on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd October. Was well worth the wait seeing the Class 17 and 52. Sadly I didn't get to see the visiting LMS 6100 Royal Scot but always tomorrow or next week to see it...

Finally got several shots today of SVR Autumn Gala visitor LMS 46100 Royal Scot whilst on test runs between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster today. An absolute beauty in her livery and looking like a real star. Cannot wait to get more shots of her during the Gala next week... :) Also apologies for the continuous posting. This will now calm down now I've gotten shots of 46100 I can assure you all...!!

I thought I would start up a thread all about the SVR. A place where we can post pictures have general discussions about visits and talk about the ins and outs.

So first up 5029 Nunney Castle owning group are in advanced stage of negotiations in having the loco based at the railway between main line commitments.

1501 has had a fire lit in the fire box and has been repainted in BR lined Black and it looks stunning.

Im visiting the line on Sunday so I will post a few pics up. Hopefully Sir Keith Park will be running.

Working member myself here...so would be interested in this topic....based at Arley..assist on the gardens and station maintenance....Regards Bob

For those of you with a love for the petite GWR 4-6-0's, 7802 Bradley Manor is now nearing completion. This is the rolling chassis in Bridgnorth yard this morning and the boiler fitting must be imminent. They are being very tight lipped on the chosen livery, but my money is on GWR green.

How wonderful it is to see old 'Bradley' being reassembled once more and nearing a potential steam test of the boiler I would imagine in the not too distant future? There will no doubt be one or two tears in the eye, (obviously from a cinder, nothing else of course), seeing 'him' or 'her' steaming along The Valley, hopefully in time to be paired up with 7812 and visiting Manor during the celebration Cambrian event later in the autumn!  :imsohappy:

Evening guys,

Headed down to Kidderminster and Bewdley today. Was lucky enough to see the recently restored GWR Collett Brake Third Open Excursion Carriage 650 out today in the sunshine. Hopefully not be long before it goes into the dining rake... Also had the pleasure of seeing 46100 getting turned on the turntable today as well. Once I had met my friend, we went over to Bewdley and SVR visitor BR 46521 was on the Bewdley MPD. The goods looks good and especially with recently restored vans 65620 and 58725 along with Cadbury Van 346. Here's to a good Gala...!! :)

The preserved Royal Scot in BR green looks to be a very accurate portrayal of its condition when newly rebuilt in 1950...Stanier bevel rim bogie wheels and Fowler driving wheels. I have mislaid my books on the Scots, but is the Scot a rebuild of No.6100 which exchanged identities with 6152 or the real 6100?

It does sound very much like there is a jenny under the cab or its an electric train from the noise from the tyres, which apparently is from the way they were turned. (hint for a good wind up and it being fitted with a ringfield motor)  It is a fantastic engine and a credit to the team who have restored her. Its brake is one of the best LMS ones I have ever had and you can leave the last braking in platforms later, which when busy is better than crawling at one or two miles and hour and risk doors opening; then put a larger application in and know it will blow off to give a nice stop.

The parts I noticed were mainly stamped 6100, however the reverser was from 23.

Whichever it is I can see why they were well liked engines.

Had a great day out yesterday with friends Joe and Charlotte, plus Dexter the dog.

Discovered the Worlds' best scotch eggs at the White Lion in Bridgnorth, and indulged in some memorabelia from Hampton Loade traders.

Another great Gala, but the timetable would have been fuller with local trains running from Bridgnorth to Arley. There was no shortage of motive power!

That's interesting. There has been some debate as to whether or not the two engines regained their original identities after 6100's US tour. There were visible detail differences between the North British built engines (original 6100) and Derby built batch (original 6152) and these were sufficient to show that, prior to rebuilding, the changed identities were retained. But many parts, despite what people believe, stayed with a loco for life: most of 2968's motion is still stamped 13268 (I've looked!) so this would indicate that what is preserved is the genuine NB-built machine and the first of the class.

Sorry, serious thread drift there!

I went yesterday with a few friends and had a great day (Sir Keith Parks from Kidderminster to Bridgenorth, 2857 from Bridgenorth to Highley and 46521/4566 from Highley back to Kidderminster with Erlestoke Manor on the back).  I was so busy having a good time I rather neglected to take any photos!

Well another SVR Autumn Gala over. Great friends, great locos and a good time all round. Very happy with the photographic results from this year's Gala too. 46100 and Britannia certainly put on a great show and the resident steam engines were grand as always...!!

The former - the two engines exchanged identities in 1933 for "6100" to go to America, and never swapped back.

I visited the Gala on Friday and had a great day - 4 new steam locos for haulage ! 2857, 34027, and the magnificent 46100 and 70000. Many thanks to all those who give their time and money to put on such superb events.
