Does anyone have pictures of the internal arrangement for the GWR Pollen C to drwg. A4?

I have pictures of the 6-wheel Pollen E at Didcot, where the turntable was above and between
the middle wheel arches: but the "C" was a 4 wheel vehicle with space centrally for a 5 foot table
between the frames.

Also, views of the chain locker behind the buffer beam.

Can anyone help?

This is what has been achieved to date:-

Hi Dazzler,

I don't know if you had thought of talking to the guys at the NRM but you may find that they have either photographs or drawings that may help you. I have rung them up before on a few subjects and they were quite helpful.

The CAD image looks great - do I sense an outbreak of 3D printing in the near future?

All the best,

Castle

All the detail of the 3D drawing is present.

All outside faces, and the floor are clean with riveted angles.

As can be seen, there are some print marks on the reverse

side of the frames, with light relief and easily cleaned with a

fiberglass pen.

There is also the full 5'(20mm) turntable with an RSJ that sits

within the vehicle.

A NEM Coupling Box is provided.

There are constant revisions to perfect the model.

Hi Dazzler Fan,

That looks really outstanding. Well done! They are the sort of vehicle that lend themselves to this sort of technique I think.

Now, if you could do the six wheel version for my Little Didcot collection...*

All the best,

Castle

* Just kidding - I apologise for the severe outbreak of very cheeky indeed!

The Pollen C is available in EM gauge.

If anyone is interested there are Sheave Wheels in both 4mm and 7mm (43.5) scales

I've got one on order too.  Interesting to hear from the first builder.

I won't be home for months yet, so it won't be me.

There are some great photos on the "Ebay" sub-forum of RM Web.  They deserve to be here.  Someone has made a great job of a pair, with painting tips included.

Brilliant.

Colin & MIB,

Both of your kits are with edits we picked-up this week-end,

and due for dispatch to you on the 19th.

These kits have gone to South Africa and Australia, but it

has been difficult until now, getting them into the UK.
- Problem solved.

Comments have been good, and it is taking time to get

awareness of the models.

Noel,

Despite the rubbish talked on the Ebay thread, a gi-normous pat on the back to you for getting off the glutimous-maximous, and having these things created.

Price - fair.

Detail - outstanding

"Fills a hole in the market" = 11/10

What's next? - one of the very large CROCODILEs please...........  preferably the one with the well rather than the girder.

Since seeing the Coral being built in Castle's thread when building his Didcot group of wagons, coaches and locos, I've been looking out for one on the proverbial on-line auction site and elsewhere but to no avail.

I would have thought a new model of one of these would sell well and is completely unique currently in the 4mm arena.

I know there is a 7mm etched kit but I've been told it is not suitable for reduction to 4mm because of the style of construction.

Unless someone else has an old K's Coral I can purchase?

Thanks

Ken Fenner

I second this  ( but would also love a large CROCODILE.)

Excellent news. Looking forward to building them.

I have looked  at the Crocodile L. but was put off on the sheer cost of the print.
The best way would be to produce the trucks, and for the modeller to fabricate

the rest with Evergreen sections. I think it would only be suitable for very large

layouts.

I have a white metal OO Coral, and the brackets are in a sorry state because of

the material: it would be a good candidate, but I have no wish to cross anyone

else's project.

With the Pollens we are looking to fit and supply ballast because they are light.

This is the solution of one modeller had for the Pollen C:-

post-12739-0-86131100-1373699666.jpg

And of course rub-on transfers, when you know who in deepest Wales can get to it.

Noel,

I am sure that there would be plenty of people who would build it for the challenge and to display even without running it.  The idea of 2 bogies and two sets of drawings for the 2 types of centre section (s) for the buyer to finish is a great one.

Hi Noel,

I would have thought that some careful use of liquid gravity, superglue and superglue kicker would mean you could pack quite a lot of weight in the POLLENs.

I agree with M.I.B. that the scratch builders aid style approach for the big swamp dweller might be a way forward if you wanted to do it.

All the best,

Castle

Wow was it really 2.5 years ago when I got my POLLEN.    So very impressed.

Noel - please make us a set of bogies for the CROCODILE and some drawings dfor the centre spans, for us to self build.    I am sure that a run of these kits would all go very very quickly because of their novelty value.   And there are a few layouts on here which would be big enough to use one, as well as the kit collectors and the kit builders who just display their models in cabinets.

It'll be a sure fire winner.

Noel, You are indeed a hero!

My Pollen, yet to be weathered, is on post 68 of my blog. Link is below.

It's not even 10% as good as Castle's but I am happy for now.  Happier when it's weathered.

A brilliant model.  Thanks for making it possible.

Rub-On Transfers are now available for the Pollen C.

with option for the 3 sets of running numbers.

It is suggested to use Testors #1237 Flat Gray to match

the carrier for the small print of the Tare, Tons. and Bolsters

Notice.

Somehow both HRMS and Modelmasters sheets did

not make allowance that the Pollens travelled in pairs.

Hi Noel

only just discovering your Pollen wagons, I’ve looked on shapeways and Ebay and I can’t seem to find any for sale. Do you still make these and are any available.

thanks in advance

John
