Beautiful models as always, Ian.  Wish I could say the same about the prototypes, but, hey ho, each to his own!    :mosking:

Jim

Thanks for the blue comments Jim! I’m now building a Connor 0-4-2 as a contrast, now that is much more complex with outside cylinders, wavy footplate and multi curved cab.It will be blue too. I am a glutton for punishment.

Here is my latest project which had been many month in the making, ive been working and not had as much time as i would like for modelling but we do what we can....

A couple of years agoi picked up a pdk glen kit for £60ish and the dundee shows swap meet room. There were a few parts missing but nothing that was too difficult to make.

62483 Glen Garry.

I have done the cab detailing this time with seats full back head detail and sliding windows etc, you cant really see all this with the crew in but i know its there so itll do me.

And here is my finally complete conversion of a Hornby class 700 into a j37, 64602 of dundee tay bridge. Quite how it’s on the waverley route is anybodys guess.

Now that i now know i can make the conversion work I plan on doing others when time allows.

She's fairly huckling that long train of (mostly) empties along!!

Jim

Yes she’s a very good runner, much better and smoother than my kit built j37’s. The only issue is weight, or i should say WAS as the loco now has pieces of lead and lead shot in every space available. If she hauls a train this length then im more than happy. As for the loaded minerals, these belong to another club member and they were borrowed for the shots i took ( the coal loads were accidentally glued in at the peebles pva factory)

I don’t know much about the J37s performance, the one at Ayr saw little use, but I do remember the Caley 812s belting down through Cumnock, on the G&SW, with coal from Sanquhar bound for Ayr Harbour. They had around 20 fulls on but they were coasting down grade!

Here is my latest, 64A based j35 64519 from a djh kit i got for nothing, there were many missing parts but its all done now. Had the loco running with 40 minerals behind and the loco hauled them well but the centre axle needs to have some tweaking.

I think your only chance would be scratchbuilding, the tender axleboxes, backhead, saftey valves and pump are all available from Caley Models who are always really helpful.  Mind you I'm not sure where you would get a suitable dome or chimney.

Very nice, a very underrated class of their time and somewhat overshadowed by their larger and smaller sisters.

I've five all told; two in BR late crest condition, one in post war NBR livery and two unbuilt kits.

- And here with classmate 64608, both of which might make separate cameo appearances on "United Mills" at the EMGS/ScaleFour Skills Day in Linlithgow tomorrow....

Must replace those old Merit fir-trees, though.

Great work Alasdair, 64591 was a sweet runner at the Model Rail Scotland Show a few weeks ago.

No doubt you are cracking on with other kits now, remember time waits for no man!

I posted pics of this West Highland stalwart on another thread but thought these might be of interest. Loco built from LRM kit to EM standards. Great runner (by luck!) and since the photo it has been toned down a wee bit through selective weathering.

Browsing this thread and found your wonderful K2/2. I have one to build for the Bentley Model Railway Group at Calne in Wiltshire (Kannotburn). Any advice you can offer would be gratefully received.

Meantime thought I would post a few pictures of the J36 (PDK kit +) that I built for them.1865364091_IMG_4927(2).JPG.d82b5c4837a81907b934d79acdd3a7c7.JPG1363207982_IMG_4906(2).JPG.34d7c99e98051a1f8c3587eb371dd71f.JPG1363258754_IMG_4904(2).JPG.0b6199808af55deda8daad76ee3f9672.JPG

Any progress on the Conner 0-4-2 Ian, I'd love to see some photos regardless of how far you've got.

Ian there absolutely beautiful. You've captured that cab roof profile brilliantly. Thanks for posting I've got to admit I've got a Brittains 0-4-2 670 class (almost the same) on my want to build list and have already started gathering materials for and cut some parts like the tender frame etc so was keen to see what progress you had made

I have posted pics of my latest project elsewhere on rmweb but I thought id post it here too, in a complete change for me I decided to make myself a highland railway loch, using an Oxford Adams radial as a starting point. It is getting there as the main parts are all there and the loco is now in primer and, soon to be sprayed the correct livery.

Sorry I have just had a think about this and, off the top of my head....what about a Hornby southern s15 4-6-0 chassis?

Hi Kingfisher,

Love your work on the 4-4-0.

The issue I have with trying to find a chassis is that the spacing on the CR loco is very close (perhaps not evenly spaced but not far off). The S15 unfortunately looks to have a large gap between the rearmost axles.

Hmm perhaps a Hornby older style b12 chassis as this has equally spaced axles, and it wouldn’t be hard to graft cylinders and motion onto this as I did it for a peppercorn a2 a while back. Not the same thing I know but the idea would be he same. I’m at my work just now but I can have a look at the spare chassis I have lying around and fiddle around with it and get back to you.

Well it’s happened, I’ve finally got me erse in gear and started another project. This time I’m going for a caley class 19 0-4-4. I did consider using a triang m7 as a basis like I did with my 419. But this time I’m tryin a scratch build. I may yet use the m7 but I set to last night at my local club with a plan a scalpel and some plasticard and made a start. Managed to get the basic shape just about right with some filling and sanding required.
