RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 26, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 26, 2012 The dormer roof should be same pitch as the main roof. Is that a definite 'must' or a 'usually is' ? I'd guessed the three dormers were 45, but that seemed a bit steep for the main roof. Also, what is 'true pitch' ?
N15class
It is a usual because of they look odd if different. It looked to be that the dormer and the gable top angle looked 90 degree ish. Edit bad spelling
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 26, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 26, 2012 I had a play with a few ( very rusty ) trigonomic formulae this evening, after studying the information provided on Gordan's link. I think a lack of chocolate has resulted in a fairly unlikely answer of 22 deg, so I'll need to re-evaluate tomorrow ( when I'll be able to show my workings). Meanwhile the tiling is coming on and the first chimney has been fabricated. Just wondering if I've got time to do something else...
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 27, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 27, 2012 Yet more tiling last night, and the first chimney has been temporarily put in place. Still to do : Second Chimney Windows (frames, not glazing) Pipe in porch Small roof on rhs extension Domer roofs Grass !! On target to complete on time ? Probably... N15class
it is I feel the best of your three entries.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 27, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 27, 2012 Thanks Peter. It's certainly the most ambitious, but the other two are both interesting in their own right, and all three have taught me more (in my opinion, the whole reason why I've entered !). Still feel I ought to enter something else, just to keep the quota up...
N15class
Where do you get the time? I struggle to find the time for the ones that make money let alone the bits for myself.. I know exactly what you mean about learning lots of things I have with my coach even though I had made them in 4mm.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 27, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 27, 2012 Time is there, I just use what I can. I do muse over how I need to progress whilst doing other things, or in odd moments, which helps when actually modelling. Progress tonight, but no photos - main roof is done, both front extension roofs are done, three ground floor windows are done, large dormer roof is fabricated but not tiled. Should get the dormers done tomorrow, then it's ready for painting.
richbrummitt
You've still got the woods to make, otherwise it's just a house
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 29, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 29, 2012 (Truth is, it's not even a house, just the front bit...) The wood will be carefully positioned leylandii trees from the garden... I've tried making trees before - they're about as good as my 3-wheel wagons!
