Trouble is that KAG's 20 or so pages of notes are typed and don't OCR at all well as they have smudged through time. Bruce

Bill Jamieson
I'm not sure where the label 'Torwoodlee North Viaduct' comes from - I assume it refers to the high, very skewed overbridge nearby but this is named on the Borders Railway engineering drawings as Torwoodlee Road Overbridge (it carries an estate road over the line). 37175
Not sure if these have appeared here before - there are quite a few decent shots from the Waverley Route, looking through the RCTS photo archive. D9001
No doubt most people on here will have seen the photos of a Class 20 on what was ostensibly the last freight to Langholm (turns out it wasn’t) with a load of enthusiasts riding in the Brake Van, travelling through Canonbie. There was film of it on one of the Waverley Route DVDs. Does anyone know the number of the Class 20 heading that train, please? And therefore all the more interesting for that. Hope of interest. That's a carflat mate, but I'd attest to your other synopsis that it's gained access via the up & down connection from Kingmoor Yard box to Stainton. Possibly a Currock shunt for the wagon shops. RMweb Gold Iain Mac Posted July 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 13, 2019 This should probably go in the structures section but it crosses several discussions. 25" Maps and the whole route going through CAD currently and matching the scaling to Geolocation. Lots of other Waverley related items but just getting back into Rmweb so they will follow when appropriate. Mac.

AJCT
I don't think I've seen this one before - https://www.railscot.co.uk/img/71/484/ - but I'm a bit suspicious about the the date - another image dated 1968 https://www.railscot.co.uk/img/23/830/ shows that the track to the east of the box had already been lifted. A few other points of interest: that looks like a Diesel Brake Tender behind the Type 4, and it's the first pic I've seen of a Down train recessed on to the stub of the Border Counties line or perhaps dropping off a vehicle with a hot box. What do the experts think ? Alasdair 1

What do the experts think ? Alasdair Roy G Perkins photo from 1963. There is a full sequence of images of a 26 and consist running round using the BCR stub and Riccarton platforms. Something about Hawick North box not being able to accommodate the move (locked out certain days? Pre its closure anyway), so long(er) trains were sent down to Riccarton Junction to run round and recess on the BCR stub out of the way. Roys collection was potentially going to the Armstrong trust, not sure where that ended up in the end. Nice to see Bruce releasing them in the best location for them, RailScot. 62440
I think the description will be changed soon! I have never had a holiday cottage near Riccarton. Iain's conjecture must be along the right lines. Bruce
