Mid Norfolk Railway have announced that Met 1 will be in use this weekend. https://www.facebook.com/midnorfolkrailway/photos/a.205280169498760.61152.204453346248109/1426627340697364/?type=3&theater

If you are thinking of booking tickets for one of the steam hauled trips at Steam On The Met, book now. As most of the carriages on these trips have sold out or are close to selling out. The diesel hauled trip 4 has plenty of seats on both days.

20142 has been repainted in London Transport Maroon and been named 'Sir John Betjeman'.

Some corrections to my previous post. Met 1 will only be operating on Saturday at the Mid Norfolk Railway https://www.facebook.com/midnorfolkrailway/photos/a.205280169498760.61152.204453346248109/1427507507276014/?type=3&theater

Online booking for Steam On The Met has closed. I assume any remaining tickets will be able to be purchased on the day.

20142 will be going to the Epping Ongar Railway Diesel Gala on 16-18 September http://eorailway.co.uk/events/diesel-gala/

According to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre's Stockbook webpage for Met 1, it is planned to visit the Epping Ongar Railway from this month to January. So it could be in use for the Halloween Specials, Santa Specials, Mince Pie Specials and the New Year Gala. The EOR What's Running webpage currently lists two steam locos as TBA. The first one, GWR pannier tank 6430 from Llangollen Railway, arrived yesterday.

According to the latest Heritage Railway magazine:

  • The 1938 Stock tube train hopefully be back in operation in Feb.
  • The 4TC is at Eastleigh having work carried out, including new livery.
  • Former LMS Engineers Saloon no. 45029 is owned by TfL and being restored at Eastleigh.
  • 20142 is planned to haul the 4TC and 45029 from London to Quainton Road for the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre Spring Gala.
  • Met 1, a Pannier Tank (probably 9466), Sarah Siddons, the 4TC & 45029 are pencilled in for Steam On The Met between Wembley Park and Watford on the first two weekends of September.

In off topic-ish news, the Vintage Trains ticket site has trains listed until mid August. Although the tours haven't been officially announced, I suspect the Tyseley pair of Pannier Tanks (L94 & 9600) are likely to pull the East Midlands Rambler on 13 May and the Melton Rambler, Harringworth Roast Lunch & Harringworth Afternoon Tea trains on 12 August.

Glad to hear about Steam On the Met.

Anymore information about the 1938 Tube Stock. Is it due to return do Acton Museum Depot in February?

Could the 1938 Tube Stock be penciled in for Heritage Runs on the Piccadilly Line or SSL?

20227 is getting a repaint to match 20142.

After being announced a year ago the repaint of 20227 is finally about to start. The London Transport Large Roundel red and white livery has been carried by the loco since 2013 when it was repainted for 'Steam on the Met' was to be replaced by Rail Blue last year for its duties at the North Norfolk, but with its appearance planned for the forthcoming London transport Tour planned for 30th April - Date to be confirmed, something different will now take place.

The loco started its journey by road to Bodens for delivery tomorrow, to have its slightly tired paint replaced with London Transport Lined Red as 20142, see below in readiness for the Tour, there is also speculation of a renaming - but you'll have to wait until the day to see.

More information on the tour, recent events and plans for the year to follow.
