bigdaveadams1
Hi all, I've designed my n gauge layout using Anyrail software. One of the pieces of track I've used is a 2nd Radius curve, however I can't find it listed at any of the stockists. So if anybody could point me in the direction of a stockist I'd be most appreciative. If not I'll have to use tracksetta I suppose..... Ta
Adrian Wintle
As far as I know, the Peco Code 55 range consists of points and flex track so you won't find a 2nd radius curve piece. Adrian
bigdaveadams1
Cheers Adrian, I guess Anyrail has used that piece to aid in planning. At least I can stop searching and just get on with laying it!
RMweb Premium Kris Posted October 16, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 16, 2012 Tracksetta will be you friend here. As Adrian has said code 55 only consists of points, crossings and flexitrack.
bigdaveadams1
Cheers for that Kris, I'll get on with ordering the correct tracksetta. Can I ask if I'll be able to pin the tracksetta in place whilst I glue the flexitrack or will I need to weigh it down somehow whilst I wait for the glue to set? Tricky Dicky
Tracksettas have slots in them which enable you to pin the track down. If you do not want pins left in the track once the the glue is set, you can leave the pins proud and pull them out after. Richard
RMweb Premium Kris Posted October 17, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 17, 2012 I weigh them down. I do find using Tracksetta's slow as you really do need to wait for the glue to dry before moving to the next bit. I would also recommend overlapping a little to ensure that the curve is consistent. RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted October 17, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 17, 2012 If you are using 2nd radius, do you really need to stick with Peco's Code 55 (which is really a Code 80 anyway)? Is the track visible at that point or hidden in tunnel?
bigdaveadams1
Well I've got a job lot of code 55 flexi so it'd be a waste not using it. However some of it will be visible, so best to use code 55 I guess. It's set in north western Scotland so 2nd radius doesn't look out of place on the main line.
