RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted October 20, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 20, 2012 I decided to build a loco that I had wanted to have a go at for quite a while, The NER class A, LNER class F8, 2-4-2T was the first Worsdell loco on the NER (except arguably the 'Tennants' but that's another story). Designed by TW Worsdell and introduced in 1886 for light passenger work it was an improved/enlarged version of his M15 (F4) built for the GER in 1884. they saw service all over the NER system until the last was withdrawn in 1937. The model is built mostly in brass using drawings published in the September 1972 Railway Modeller and volume 3 of North Eastern Record. Most of the fitting used were from my spares box and are leftovers from kits, the wheels are Gibson, the motor a Mashima 12/24 and the gearbox is a High Level 54-1 RoadRunner+. LNER F8 2-4-2T Original build thread. The Chassis. Frames cut out. Leading wheel bearings. Almost complete. The Body. Footplate. Tanks and cab basics added. Boiler (18mm brass tube) and smokebox. Coming together! Bunker details. Westinghouse pump and plumbing. The finished loco. On a running in turn at Felton Lane from Darlington works...
