iL Dottore's GWR 3 Axle Siphon

Recommended Posts

After seeing what others were doing in building rolling stock, I decided to have a go at building a 3 axle GWR Siphon. The thread is here:http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/54879-ids-3-axle-gwr-siphon-now-fully-completed/

As always, I started the build by drawing a construction plan:

Using the plan as a template, and using plastic strip, I built the sides which matched up well with the 4mm drawing:

I then scratchbuilt ends, spacers and assembled the body, then adding a thin mild steel floor to prevent warping:

I then soldered together a Cleminson etch for a 3 axle vehicle and installed it onto the floor plan

All was made good and the model undercoated

Then finished and transfers added

In all a fairly acceptable first full scratchbuild of a wagon
