RMweb Gold Happy Hippo Posted November 7, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 7, 2012 Dave. If it's Llantrisant, it probably was set track! I'll get my Templot file and hide now. Regards Richard
chrisf
Good old Max Boyce. Clearly you are a man of culture! Chris - an Englishman who had grandparents in Barry, home of the late Neil Lewis
br2975
This was taken from the same footbridge during May, 2012. . A lot has happened in the intervening 33 years. . No more trip workings to Coed Ely and Cwm. . Pontyclun station built on the site of the former Llantrisant station. . Brian R . PS I never did by the house beside the level crossing, but 32 years later my daughter bought one nearby !
mikeyk
OK, I wonder if I can get to Swansea before anyone notices that I have done a runner. I've got jam sarnies in the bag, a thermos of tea, and a Beano to read on the next train.
two tone green
And if you had gone via the Vale of Galmorgan Line you would have gone by my home of old in Llantwit Major. How are you Mike.
mikeyk
Hi Andy I think we were living in Boverton at the time, must be around 1964/65. Hope all is well with you and your gang. I'm still breathing, so we'll leave it at that ;-)
two tone green
I remember you saying you were in Boverton. Happy days. The ancestral home there went a few years. Cant say I miss the place living where we do now. All is well further west although only a few miles. Must catch up again soon.
br2975
Not prompted by all the NATO shenanigans in Cardiff Bay last week - but more by the several Chivers MDV kits waiting patiently for my next project to commence ("Twll Cach" - apologies to any Welsh speakers who are easily offended). . Looking through my photos I came across these two, taken at Ryan's blending site on the north side of the Roath Dock (Cardiff) circa 1989. . Here we have one of only 5 known rebodied MDV wagons, in this case B312558. . This wagon was fitted with a self adjusting brake, whereas B310782 (also rebodied) had a manual change over lever. (Cannot say what the other three were) . This is the only one I can remember seeing, but as my next project is set in 1971-1972 there won't be a 4mm version running there. (But anyone looking to replicate one could easily achieve the goal with minimal cross-kitting) . Anyone wanting to know more should read Datafile, Freight wagons of British Railways Parts 4 & 5, Dave Larkin & Trevor Mann, MRC November & December 1983. .
