Del
Thoroughly enjoyed this last year, so will certainly head along.
HerbertHopkins
Can't believe it's that time of the year again, doesn't seem like twelve months since the last show! I've attended this exhibition for the last couple of years and, if this year is up to the same standard, it should be well worth a visit. Not only that, but the East Ham boys are a pretty decent bunch and the show deserves to be a success. Get along there if you can, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. 67195
I'll be there, I've been to all three of the previous ones, it's always an excellent show, great layouts with a good selection of traders and a really relaxed atmosphere, see you there. jonhall
Any indication of period/location of the layouts? Probably not much of your imeadiate interest, but its still worth a trip East, depending on the state I get in tonight, I may try and get over on the train/bus tomorrow, otherwise I'll recover gently and visit the Model Engineering show at Sandown Park on Sunday. Thanks Jon. Sounds like you have a fun night ahead of you!? I'm free on Sunday but I think I'd rather get some modelling done as I've had so little time for it recently (too much time spent on club committees!). HerbertHopkins
I've been roped in to do some operating, same as last year, so I hope to see you all there. Just about to leave to help setting up.
jonhall
Well, I went, and quite enjoyed it, even if it took rather longer to get there than I spent in the show, it really needs a bigger venue with some more trade. Alas I seem to have lost my hat so I've arrived home with a cold head Jon
Miss Prism
Enjoyed the show a lot - the layouts (a good mix) were all of a very good standard, and it was great to see East Dean, albeit at it last show.
edcayton
That's a shame, it is one of my all-time favourites Ed
PaulG
Just returned from a very enjoyable show; excellent venue, very good layouts some I've not seen before and a far greater number of layouts than traders, which I prefer. Congratulations to the organisers and I look forward to next years show. Paul
RMweb Premium Colin Posted November 4, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 4, 2012 Went today with Baby Deltic - IMHO the best small show I've been to for quite a while. A nice mix of very high quality layouts plus good trade support - it was well worth going.
chrisf
I was there today too. It's a lovely venue in a rubbish place and the persistent rain all the way round the M25 from South Mimms did make me doubt my sanity in making the trip. Then I remembered why I had decided to go - as fine a selection of layouts as can be found in one place. An overgrown vase with handles adjacent to Foxup would seem to imply that it had been awarded 'best in show'. In terms of attracting the public that honour was deserved by Tower Pier, where two enthusiastic young people were being shown the ropes and getting the hang of it all pretty well. It is one of the more plausible 'might-have-been' layouts around, a cousin of Minories, set very close to it and despite occupying minimal space offers plenty to see - and, in the cases of young Peter and James, plenty to do. I also enjoyed watching Blackwell Brewery Company, Ballyconnell Road, East Dean, Fellbridge and Coldfair Green, which is not to say that I did not enjoy watching the others, I did but the forgettery has kicked in rendering my mind a blank. The sparse catering did not worry me. 70p for a cuppa is a bargain and as a precaution I had brought with me a baguette left over from my recent expedition to northern climes. It is my practice to have a good breakfast when travelling to a show on the basis that I know not whence will come the next meal This morning's repast was at South Mimms services where I somehow managed to obtain staff discount! As others have said, the balance of layouts v trade was good. The only book I bought was on the distinctly non-rail subject of Radio Caroline! On my way home I noticed the relatively sensible price of petrol in the area - 134.9, which is a worthwhile saving on what is demanded round here. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 4, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 4, 2012 I thought it was even better than last year. I quite like the venue, it's one of the few with carpeted floors which makes it a lot quieter than some other venues, and my feet don't seem to ache as much as when visiting other similar sized exhibitions. Tower Pier was my favourite too.
PenrithBeacon
I went too, something of a fixture in my calendar. I thought it was a splendid show, as ever, thoroughly enjoyable. I didn't miss the cooked meals as I wouldn't have a cooked meal at lunchtime anyway. The butty I had was nicely done, wasn't too cold and it and the tea were served with a smile. What more could I ask for? In reply to 'chrisf' the cup being shown adjacent to 'Foxup' was the one it won at the last 'expoEM' for being best in show. The current owners of the layout were delighted when the layout was awarded the cup because it was considered by one and all to be a tribute to the late Mike Hensbury who created 'Foxup' and in who's memory the layout is preserved and shown. Looking forward to next year ... Regards

Deltic
From my side of the aisle, the guys put on a very good exhibition - and make everyone welcome. Whilst we try and advertise as much we can (just as with any other exhibition that we attend), some customers are unsure of what 'finescale' means and only when they dive in and come along do they realise what they have missed in the past. Long may this exhibition run.
