RMweb Gold unravelled Posted October 28, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 28, 2012 This is a brief summary of http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/62075-box-sash-windows/ This was an attempt to make a slightly more accurate representation of a box sash window than others I have seen. It uses multiple laminations to capture the fussiness of a real window structure, and has been a success as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately a PSU failure, (now sorted), has meant that I haven't been able to cut and photograph the final product. My next bit of work will be to cut the windows for Il Dottore's "Old Blue Last" model, which has been the guinea pig for this idea. I'm hoping to use a thinner glazing layer than in the tests, and include some open windows. Probably the biggest need for development is in the area of simplifying alignment of the components during assembly, possibly followed by finding materials which glue more easily to each other. Hoping this gives some of you ideas, thanks Dave
iL Dottore
Top Notch work Dave Having been the guinea pig for the laser cut windows, I can attest that they really are superb (and for some pictures of an assembled and finished set of windows, see the Mr Brunel'y hat thread) iD
