Katier Posted October 31, 2012 Share Posted October 31, 2012 This is my first effort at scratch building a piece of rolling stock and is a NER Birdcage Brake van in 3mm/ft scale, 12mm gauge. The body is made of plasticard with wood for the vertical timbers. The undercarriage is a 3mm society frame modified and simplified ( no brake levers etc. ) and with the addition of running boards. The boards were originally plastic but they bowed so some of the brass from the Emmyton build was used to create a much better set - although not documented in the build topic this change was done pre-deadline.
