Arpleymodeller
Hi again My silo arrived Friday afternoon and yesterday I spent some time placing it on the layout to see where it looked best, now in its final position I have took some pictures showing it at the cement terminal.Ive also tested shunting my PCAs loaded with cement and CEAs with limestone. Away from the cement terminal Ive added 2 more workers to the road works scene and weathered the inside of 1 of my 2 new MFA wagons.Ive included some pictures for comparison. First of all here we see the silo in position,I plan on buying another 2 and have a line of 3 . 37427 arrived to collect the PCAs and CEAs MFA interior before weathering. MFA after weathering using Humbrol Enamels. Comparison showing un-weathered and weathered. Roadworks scene showing new workers added. Thats all for now, Comments welcome Regards Lewis

Arpleymodeller
Hi again, Just a small update,Ive been remodelling the station enterance and have moved it to the right to allow develiopment to take place where the old enterance use to be.Also I have fitted another point motor(4 down 3 to go!) and ballasted the station area although this still needs weathering.I have also decided to remove the station roof and platform 2 and just have the station as a small 1 platform halt which has been greatly rationalised. The buildings removed will be stored away for a future project. In the old station area a row of 3 skaledale terrace houses are being placed although I only have 2 at the moment and the rest of the area will become a commerical vehicle service centre. New station entrance New terrace houses New point motor-Ive been using various point motors to see which is the most reliable and this peco pl-11 is so far the most reliable. The next one to be fitted will be a peco PL-10W.The most reliable will be my standard point motor and used in any future layouts. Station area fully ballasted although not weathered. New commercial area-Ill be using a Pikestuff kit for the main building. Now I have finnished my GCSEs I can spend more time on the layout over the next 2 months. Next I will be adding a derelict boarded up signal box near the level crossing using an old Hornby R503 but using scalescenes brick and roof slates. Next update soon, Cheers Lewis

Arpleymodeller
Hi Ive been setting the scene of the sorrrounding area of Arpley Street and have decided where the layout is set. It is based on the freight only line which runs from latchford sidings in Warrington to Widnes for Fiddlers Ferry PS.The line is now freight only but my fictious version would have seen the line running through the fictitious town of Hamton Hill and the passenger service would have remained. Although as the line as a through route closed in 1985 the passenger service now runs from Widnes, through Hamton Hill and on the fictitious Preston Chord to join the West Coast Main Line North of Warrington. The passenger service then terminates at Preston. Here is a map to give an idea of the lines around warrington and how they fit in to my layout. On the layout, work done recently has been none existent apart from adding the remaining section of backscene.Later this week I am buying a Hornby Elite controller to replace my select so trains will be running again after a short break due to the select unit not operating well. Some more pictures of progress will be coming soon.I plan on working on the high level road, adding Metcalfe pavements and also build the remaining terrace houses. Arpleymodeller
Hi all Since September Ive been very busy with College etc so not much work has been done on the layout. However I have rewired the point motors for DC control and wired the remaining point motors.I have built a switch panel and wired the 7 point motors to the SPDT switches and installed a PECO CDU to give them some extra power. So now all points are electrically operated! With this completed ive ballasted the remaining trackwork. Also Im remodelling the industrial estate and replacing the metcalfe buildings with Bachmann scenecraft items. Some pictures to be added soon showing the completed wiring and newly ballasted mainline. Also Ive been buying new stock and locos for christmas To be joining the fleet in December will be... -A rake of Bachmann EWS HTAs which will represent the LBT-FFPS coal workings and hauled by my sound 60 B) -Hornby EWS 08 08865 -Bachmann EWS 66 66068 I will also be buying various other wagons that may include VGAs,BDAs and a few more HEAs early in the new year plus plenty of other details such as fencing, people and one of the forthcoming scenecraft portacabins for the stabling point Regards Lewis

It has been tested in DC mode but I will have to wait untill early next week for its Lenz decoder arrives untill it can be programmed and commisioned properly. Ive finally completed the ballasting after wiring the remaining 3 point motors 60048 rumbles past with a rake of MFAs and MTAs bound for Baford Hall yard Also early in the new year I will be taking delivery of another Hornby 60 with sound, the latest release 60042. Although I will be re numbering it to 60039 using the custom faded decals I bought earlier this year. Then it will be off to Howes for its sound to be reblown.
