Hi all,

Again, apologies for the absence, I just can't get back into the swing of things. I have been doing bits here and there though. The wiring is completed at last and there is an ongoing period of test running prior to ballasting. I laid the platforms several weeks ago and all the stock I usually use to check clearances went through without issue until I ran a Class 08 and the coupling rods jammed! Some modification later and all is well, so this will be my preferred test loco in future.

I have a lot of catching up to do on RMWeb but will post a few photos over the weekend if the heat dies down a bit. I hope I get my MOJO back soon haha!

Regards

Mike

Hi Mike.

Really good to see you back on here.

Just don't feel obliged to keep the punters happy. The mojo WILL return and remember it's a HOBBY, so enjoy as little - or as much - as you can manage.

Best wishes,

Jeff.

I second that - welcome back Mike.  I am sure you have been through a lot in the last year, but I for one will be looking forward to seeing your posts.

Welcome back Mike. Glad you’re getting back into things and I share your pain over the 08 as I did the same thing when I bought one.

Hi all,

Apologies again for the delay, 'things' just took over my time as they do!

Here are a few photos of the current state of affairs, the above shows the mid-station area with 'down' platform on left, then centre road and 'up' platform on the right with terminating bays far right. The LNWR style buildings are placed to show the proposed arrangement for the platform and the overhead station entrance on a roadway above.

I've had this goods shed some 30 years and its still not finished!

Part 3...

In the opposite direction BR 9F No. 92009 heads a mixed mineral working of 30 loaded 16T wagons, from memory I think around half a million of these wagons were built by BR.

From the sublime to the mundane, a mere single coach push-pull service runs off the branch and terminates in No.1 platform behind Ivatt 2-6-2T No. 41222. The coach is a brass kit.

Next jobs are to ballast the running lines, work on the station structure and test the MPD and Goods yard area before ballasting, so wish me luck - more boring mundane chores!

That's it for now guys.

Very nice indeed Mike.

One thing though I noticed in the very first photo is the siding to the coal staithes. The curve looks incredibly fierce and I wonder if it would look better if eased a touch? Of course this may just be an optical illusion and a trick of the camera such as has been known to seemingly show banana shaped coaches.

Hi Brian,

I concur with your observation, it actually looks okay at eye level but when looking down you can see it's just pretty acute, I think from memory I was attempting to fit the platform when it was a full rectangle, I then 'very' roughly cut off the corner seen in the photo but never got round to either dressing it into a curve nor altering the track approach, thanks for pointing that out as I may well have overlooked it.

Cheers

Mike
