Hi all,

Done some more work on the Station Masters house today, the first three photos are of the rendered elevations done earlier.

Could not do any more as I ran out of Wills SS76 'Quoins' put an order in immediately so should get them during the week.

No running trains I'm afraid guys.

Slow on the uptake as ever, I've only just come across your thread, Mike. Absolutely superb modelling. I know Dent station reasonably well from passing through it many times and you have really captured it to a 'T'.

Love the emerging station master's house too. What is the clear plastic/perspex you used for the basic shell of the building? I could really do with something like that for a depot admin building I am about to make.

Keep up the great work.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for joining in! Now the winter is here you have looked in just as 'modelling' time gets busy.

All the buildings with the exception of the signalbox which is a 'York Modelmaking' kit are constructed using 2mm Pexspex as the basic shell, I use superglue with activator for joining, hope that helps.

Hi Mike,

Have a great day at Manchester today mate!

I'm awfully sorry but I'm going to miss you as I have another engagement today (for shame!) - I'm there Sunday instead.

Hope to get to meet you another time.

Cheers,

John.

Hi John,

Yes I remembered you were not going today, I know you are in the MMRS but I have to admit my friends and I were disappointed in this years show based on previous shows. We found it far too busy and verging on a H&S issue. It was also very warm but no warmer that the Co-op building once used and the quantity of the layouts was vastly reduced on expectations, I was looking for another floor to be honest. I could not get close enough to take a decent photo without being barged so didn't bother. Sorry about the negativity but as a past exhibition manager I feel its important to receive honest feedback, hope you are not offended.

Edit to add: Forgot the cafe was woefully inadequate but this was outside your control I know.

Hi Mike,

No problem at all, thank you for your honesty!

That's no sarcasm, I do mean it and I will bring your viewpoint to those in charge. Your comments may be negative as in they're not positive but they are constructive so we appreciate them.

Definitely not offended, mate, thank you.

Cheers,

John.

Hi guys,

Did not manage any modelling this weekend as I had the Manchester show yesterday and was doing some reorganising in the den today. I did manage to set a couple of trains going to keep me on my toes!

EE Type 4 D368 exits the north portal of Widdale tunnel with a Perth bound parcels.

In the southbound direction Robin Riddles unfortunate Class 8 Pacific 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' just gives himself away by the presence of the double chimney.

Its only now we get a sight of the load for 71000, looks like another parcels.

71000 digs into the cant as the train powers south.

Meanwhile the signalman is bracing himself and checking for loose items as the box begins to rattle.

More to follow...

Lovely Mike, some very evocative shots there.

Cheers

Dave

PS Thanks for the info re. your buildings. Where do you get your perspex from? I found a few suppliers online.

Hi Dave,

I was lucky and got several A4 sized free! I had to buy my control panel sheet online though.

Cheers Andy, must have a look in on Pencarne, not had much chance lately.

Thanks Mike, I've been busy over there, and also amalgamated the Trewenn thread into the Pencarne one to make following the action and posting easier.

Great pictures, Mike. Love the rolling stock and scenery even more perfect. I'm sure it's got longer since we saw it. Must be all that sheep territory.  :D

Morning Mike,

Sorry to have missed these when posted- I think the 'cant' is really impressive and often missed on model layouts. Your Duke looks superbly weathered in an understated way! As Andy said, thanks for our weekly fix - always something to look forward to.

Kind regards,

Jock.

Just to finish, my mate Andy just had to try out his latest acquisition!

60090 in 'Coal Sector' livery, very nice.

That's it for now

Very nice - in fact just one digit short of perfection!

A class 60 looking at their best in coal sector livery.

and...Thanks again Mike for posting the latest batch of steam/diesel photos. For some reason I always particularly like the ones looking along the length of the layout.

Cheers

Alan
