Popular Post 67A
Hi all, Probably the final post of 2015! I'm sure I will be in demand for the rest of the day preparing for the biggest event in the calendar year for a Scotsman - Hogmany! I don't know what all the fuss is, a bottle of Malt and a bag of crisps would do me and this is the only time of year I actually can guarantee having any alcohol, its Irn-Bru the rest of the time - honest Anyway to business... Been too busy to play trains so I'm afraid its just the one train running the length of Dentdale in the 'Down' direction A heavy fitted van train has overcome the slog up to Blea Moor and now finds the going easy, hauled by a pair of Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0's the drivers and firemen are not considering new year at all, its not a holiday on the railway! The Hellifield Breakdown train has been set-back as its returning to the depot. Still a few people around hoping to get to their destination before midnight, the buses may be a better option today! I'm sure you can all see the addition to the landscape in the form of the Station Masters house now recessed into place. Next job with this is making a hardstanding area at the rear and the access steps from the road. keep a look out next year. I would like to close by wishing everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year, all the very best to you and yours. Best wishes. edit: typo! 67A
Hi all, Happy new year to all. Been out in the den already this year and the attached photos show what I have been up to... This is the location for the SM house which has been cleared out and levelled to accept the hardstanding base. Here the base has been prepared with stone flags to the front and granite setts to the rear These two show the base set-in with the SM house in position. Retaining wall being fitted Buttresses applied Stone flags and wall painted with Humbrol No.84, granite setts painted with Humbrol 53. Views around the house, tomorrow the ModRoc will be completed and hopefully some remedial scenic completion.

Jock67B
Morning Mike, All went well with the op. and I'm now trying to catch up as I recuperate. As you know, several Brits arrived at Carlisle towards the end of their career and they often ran through Kilmarnock with everything from parcels to the Thames Clyde express hooked on. We had a couple in for light service at Hurlford as well I believe! No guessing which of your loco shots excited me most? The SM's house is already beginning to look impressive, superb workmanship as usual. Hope you and Mrs 61680 have a prosperous 2016, Kind regards, Jock.
gismorail
Excellent photo's especially of the station master's house being 'planted' It's interesting to see the detail that has been put into the landscaping of this as very often buildings get struck into position You will be pleased to know that following the building inspectors visit and the inspection of the footings you may carry on with the construction ........

Hi Jock, Glad to hear all went well, I copped several Brits at Corkerhill which would suggest they travelled up the old G&SWR line, oh for those days back again eh! 67A
Hi all, Sadly I did not get as far as I thought I would today but even a little progress is still progress. The first two show the rebuilt area of landscaping around the base area and the inclusion of the steps up from the access road to the house, the photos I took show only a wall on one side with a tubular steel handrail running through concrete posts on the other, these will be added later. The above photos show the current position, looks better already!
Jock67B
Evening Mike, I love the way you've bedded the building in to the ground, using the cladding on the shell to determine the depth. I believe this will also work on a card building if the wall covering is of sufficient thickness and the recess accurately cut. With your permission I'll log the method and use it, Kind regards, Jock.

I have used this method on all my buildings longer than I can remember, I got tired of knocking a building out of position so decided this was the best method, it also prevents the 'planted' look, once the area is finished you will be pushed to see the joint between building and ground - I hope!

Really does look the part, wonder whoever owns/lives in it now would be intrested to see their home modelled? As im sure its now privately owned. Cheers Ben Hi Ben, Thanks for that. I have met the current owner, he bought the house in the mid 70's for £7500.00 and was offered £395,000.00 in 2014! He apparently told them where to go, believe it or not it still does not have a mains water supply, they get their water from the adjacent 'Monkey Beck' ............Sod that!.........Mind you it means no water bills.............Nah still not worth it.
67A
Hi all, Weekend update, been doing a bit more detailing around the Station Masters house but first here are a few pic's with a difference! Overnight services are common on the S&C and here we see EE Type 4 D210 'Empress of Britain' coasts out of Rise Hill tunnel with a London bound sleeper. In the 'Down' direction Britannia 70044 'Earl Haig' exits Widdale tunnel with a Perth bound TPO The two trains cross outside the box' The Brit' heads for the gloom of Rise Hill tunnel The Type 4 is progressing through Dentdale General view of the layout looking 'north' Cont/....
Popular Post 67A
Here we have an unadvertised workman's service in the form of an ex:LMS Push-Pull combination. The ex:works coach is being propelled by Ivatt 2-6-2T 41272, the 5000th locomotive built at Crewe Works. Dropping off station staff ready for the days work and collecting staff working out of Hellifield. The service trundles out of Dent in the early morning light/. Now just so you can see some properly... And not forgetting the detailing on the SM house! The basic ground work is now complete so I have soldered up some Langley Models detailing items to add some interest to the scene. That's it for now guys.
