67A
Back again! Located these off RMWeb easier than looking through the PC This was the original configuration of the fiddleyard 'fan' approach trackwork This was the same fan with the rushed alterations, its easy to see the reason for non-smooth running - more haste less speed eh! Edit: Tried to rotate this but no luck, it looks right on my PC Edited January 20, 2019 by 67A

67A
Hi all, Finally completed the revisions to the 'south' fiddleyard including the rewiring and testing. Overall view of the completed revisions The southbound 'arrivals' section now has 7 roads all of which have had the pointwork relaid and the sidings straightened out as required The northbound 'departure' sidings also have 7 roads but luckily there was not too much alteration required on this side only the extra road (No.8) from the left needed to be added. So knowing all these changes would be fully functional by yesterday I pressganged my mates to carry out a stock removal and track cleaning on Friday evening, Saturday I managed to complete the last of the rewiring so today I thought I deserved an operating session ….. okay a playtime...……. 3
67A
This is the first time I have loaded up images to this new look site but finding I can only get 4 on at a time and although it states max 10Mb they only total 5 Mb so it will take several posts to complete the series of todays fun packed moves! Leeds control have borrowed an ex:LNER O1Class 2-8-0 for an out-and-back run to Carlisle due to a motive power shortage at Holbeck, here the O1 exits Widdale tunnel onto the 3 arch viaduct over Widdale Beck. The O1 is charged with a heavy ballast working to Kingmoor The head of the train features Sea-Lion hoppers fully loaded Looks like the fireman is gainfully employed! 67A
Okay guys, could not be doing with only loading 4 images so I swapped from MS Edge to Google Chrome and can now get 8 images to load (it was always 10 before) O1 No 63663 rattles the box windows as it pounds past with the heavy ballast duty The train heads past the stations goods facilities in particular the yard crane The station staff ensure no-one tries to cross the line until the line has cleared Apologies for the blur, bit of a contortionist shot There is a fair bit of activity in the early morning at Dent Auto focus does not suit arty shots, must learn how to use a camera! 67A
Back to only getting a few images so closed the page and re-opened and can get 8 again The local cyclist is disinterested in heavy ballast passing by Another contortionist angle! Heading for the gloom of Rise Hill tunnel The ballast bids us farewell. Following close behind we find a pair of Sulzer Type 2's D5237 + D7645 just emerging onto Widdale viaduct The overhead view shows both loco's are No.1 cab leading Cont/... 11

(I know the blind says Carlisle but forgot I had a DMU with Garsdale on it DOH!) That's it for today guys, hope you enjoyed. 16
RMweb Premium AdeMoore Posted February 10, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 10, 2019 Brilliant pics Mike the layout is a stunner as I’ve always said. Time the Duchess’s and the 9F came out for a trip! Great looking locos and stock above it must be said though. Cheers Ade 1 1
Signaller69
Fantastic layout Mike, I've only scraped the surface so far, having only discovered it after chatting with you at Rainhill, it really captures the character of the location very nicely, I will work through it as time allows! 67A
Hi all, Although I have not been posting anything like regularly I have been quite busy with all manner of things and not all of them relate to Dent! However with regard to Dent I have begun the conversion of the last eight anhydrite hopper wagons in order to make the rake up to twenty which was the common load for a 9F (18 for an 8F.) The details have already been covered earlier in this topic so rather than more pics of the same you can see the process from the start on page 112; post No. 2786. Other items being attended to currently are making more wagon loads, firstly I had bought some more Hornby Coke wagons and I find a certain grade of foam ideal for creating the look of coke as it had an 'airy' look about it as I remember. The basic foam shape is cut to size and basic shape for the wagon and the cling film is used to ensure I can remove it if wishing to run the wagon 'empty'. A little more trimming top shape The underside requires roughly shaping to the wagon interior. Sorry this stupid thing will only upload 3 pics, see next post guys
67A
Ah hah!!!! I just remembered using 'Pix Re-sizer' to reduce file size, back to the old days it seems but no matter at least I can upload more than a few at a time! Here the cling film is lining the wagon interior The shaped foam is placed in. A liberal coating of acrylic black is applied. Until it resembles coke. Now for the sand hoppers Similar procedure with the cling film and foam only if you wish to use the wagon as an empty at times. Once the foam is placed inside a liberal coat of PVA is applied, leave to dry and remove any excess. These will all be stone loads Same basic procedures. Followed by PVA - thick application. The stone is scattered over in a suitable container to catch the excess. Then the load is sprayed with water and thinned PVA is soaked over to ensure all stones have a grip on the sponge base. 5
67A
Spraying stones over old towel, wife insisted! Nicely wetted. Pipette and thinned PVA at the ready A good drenching ensures a solid grip. 6
67A
Now for something slightly different and NOT 'Dent' related. I mentioned last week after talking with Martyn on his layout 'Crinan' at the Rainhill show that it inspired me to revisit my own exhibition layout which has been mothballed for longer than I care to remember, well I have decided to revive 'Bermuda Road MPD' and following a thorough cleaning the first thing I tackled was the replacement of the Dornoplas plastic point levers, there was nothing wrong with them as they looked okay but I remember them being very vulnerable to accidental damage when cleaning the track so today I made some brass replacements... First job is to form the 5 fixing points, this is done with a centre punch, then a 1.5mm hole is drilled at the 2 point fixing end. Next a flat brass rod is inserted and soldered in place. Followed by some manipulation with a pair of pliers to form the cranked lever. The length was trimmed to 15mm This is the result. The top 2mm is projected from the vise. This is gently filed around to create the oval hand grip. Resulting in this assembly. 2 3
67A
Installing the new lever Old Dornoplas item removed and surface cleaned ready A 1.5mm hole drilled all the way through the baseboard. The new lever assembly is put in place with the full excess length passed through the board to ensure good security. Close-up shot. Pic loading playing up AGAIN!! at not even 1mb. 8
67A
Site will not allow me upload the last two, I'll try later - very frustrating.
67A
Had to come out and back in again - PAIN! Anyway here is the result Lever assembly fitted and painted overall black Main shaft picked out in white. Result is much stronger than the plastic version and hopefully will withstand a few inadvertent knocks with a track rubber in future. So for now I'll be doing more bits on Bermuda Rd. whilst carrying on with the anhydrite conversions etc. so keep looking in. If there are any exhibition managers looking for a layout for a North West based show then 'Bermuda Road MPD' should hopefully be ready in 3-4 months. Please PM me for full details I'm sure it can be revamped in good time, biggest problem is space, to fully set it up and test it out I need a dry day and use the patio outside as there is no room in the shed! Here are a few old images of 'Bermuda Road MPD' That's it guys.

I get this problem on my Samsung S2 Tablet - but not on my PC. After posting a couple of pictures, on the next try I get a pop-up message saying I've uploaded the maximum - which I haven't. Same as you I find I have to close down the RMWeb page and re-open it before I can upload more pictures. Cheers … Alan
