The Vanwide brake rigging is unique; clasp brake with a central V and a short brake lever. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brvanwide/e48fc6ed

It is closest to the LMS VB rigging, but they characteristically had auxilliary (J-hanger) suspension. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brakerigging/e11a6d9ca

Palvan, later vans and Conflats when they had a clasp brake had the type with an offset squared off V hanger; This brake rigging is available from Slaters with the Conflat kit. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brakerigging/e224563d6

There is a shock open batch with a brake rigging similar to the Vanwide but it had a full length brake lever https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brshockopenwood/e3df29f7f

Although having similarities with some AB conversions the VEA is also a unique brake rigging.

The HEA is being worked on.

PS where did 8 years come from? If Dapol were making 7mm models 8 years ago they were those non too accurate Private Trader wagons, now replaced by Lionheart designs.

The Class 08, Terrier, vans and HEA / HAA where the second push by Dapol into O after the initial wagon releases around 2012.

This link doesn't work for me and I like to keep up to date with what is in the public domain having been privately involved with their development.

Worked yesterday. Dapol must have removed it.

Hattons seem to have loaded up the same colour diagrams if you go to each model separately though.

The Hattons site now have more details. Many of the models are expected to reflect my photographs, but not necessarily all, be cautious. All my photos are dated and have building / rebuilding dates.

The Vanwides rebuilt as airbraked VEA between 1977 and 1983

I see Tower are advertising a set of six VEAs with different numbers, "giving customers the oppurtunity to build up a descent train of vans without having to wait years for alternate numbers to come out of Dapol." http://www.tower-models.com/towermodels/ogauge/Dapol/dapolwagons/towervans/index.htm

But unlike the Dapol ones (or most of them at least) I have not checked the accuracy of the writing on these models.

Your link does, of course also show that they are also doing 6 of the more common and longer-lived  VANWIDES.

Noted :good: Hopefully the accuracy will be better than their spelling!

Just watched the Hornby magazine update and they mention a different coupling to 3 link. Looking at the Dapol site it says instantiser coupling. Whats that and im assuming it will couple to existing stock and locos?

This is about the best illustration I can find.

https://www.pnp-railways.co.uk/product/7¼-instanter-coupling-set-wagon/

The idea is for the wagons to be coupled together with the offset link in the looser, horizontal position, then it can be rotated to tighten the coupling.

It will couple yes. It's a real thing, not just a model, which was a widely used alternative, particularly in BR days on fitted stock.

Picked up a couple earlier, not had a detailed look,  but overall they appear to be pretty good, but the red appears to be the moulded plastic and is very thin allowing the light to shine through it - I think the body will need to come off and put some paint on the insides, they may also benefit from a little extra weight whilst the body is off too -  I've not weighed them but they seemed a little light.

The main thing that stuck out to me was the anemic air pipes - it almost looks like they have put 4mm ones on!
