Had 4 arrive today, the 2 Railfreight red and a couple of Bauxite versions. Nice wagon, wonder who will be the first to respray one with the ladder at the left rather than the center into Railfreight red?

I had a couple arrive yesterday too, the first thing I did was to move  the ladders out to the side on one of them

Still a bit of tidying to do!

It was actually very easy to do, if you look carefully Dapol seem to have used the same body/chassis for both versions so the ghost holes are there to give a drilling template. The ladder comes free - at least mine did - with a little bit of prying with a scalpel blade leaving the lugs intact to fix into new holes.

Incidentally nice models except for the awful brake pipes! The ones on the VEA's  looked correct but were just tiny but these are just strange.

Nice work, didn't realise it would be so easy, thanks for the heads up. Need to find a suitable number to do with the ladder in that position and and I will have a go.

When choosing a number bear in mind the first few with a ladder on the left hand side retained the two small grab handles on the centre stanchions - later ones didn't have these.

Didn't know that, good information, thanks.

Thank you 101.

Yes, a very simple job indeed.

Cheers

My photographs suggest that these were removed later.

Here is one with the central handrail remaining https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brhba/e2b05ca0d

My set of 6 Tower Railfreight LtD edition wagons arrived yesterday. Wagons numbers:

360004

360050

360060

360067

360112

360204

Having done a little more research, 360210 is the last I can find with central ladders, there is a picture of it as a CEA on SmugMug and you can clearly see the brackets from the removed ladder. First with the side ladder I can find is 360228 as per Paul's notes earlier in the thread.

Started some weathering on one of my HEA's. There is a photo on Paul Bartlett's excellent website showing this particular wagon in 1992 with a painted patch. I have tried to replicate this...

And the second one on the go. 360004 again takes inspiration from the actual wagon on Paul's site, this time faded with white powder and thinners.

Still think the chassis on all of these should really be black.

Nice work. Regarding the chassis I think some of the early ones may have been grey then changed to black later on. I have been studying a picture of 360000 and reckon it looks grey under the grime?

I haven't even got mine yet, and others have trashed theirs already!!! 🤣🤣

Ok I haven't got mine 'cos I was away last week & missed the Postie; will be collecting from the Sorting Office in a few hours time. 😁👍

I have been looking forwards to getting a couple of these, but the three ribs on the body are not something I can find in any pictures. Are they on early builds like the centre ladder.

Cheers Peter.

No,  there were weld lines but no where near as prominent as Dapol have modelled I've filed/sanded them almost flat on mine

Hi, Thanks. I have now ordered a couple, it looks like you can remove the ribs without having to do a total repaint.

Cheers Peter.
