RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted November 27, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 27, 2019 A very crowded corner with many arches, bridges, roads and railway lines all on different levels in this area of south london. Construction is all card covered with Scalescenes dark brown brick paper, my next job is to make some more plate girder bridges. Some pictures of the area and progress so far. All the best Adrian.
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted November 27, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 27, 2019 I looked at the top picture, and thought "bloody hell, Adrian's missus will have a fit if he's building all that!" Nice work on the archery, looks good. Al.

Porkscratching
Having travelled those tracks and the surrounding area many times thru the late 70s / 80s myself, i love this layout, its so evocative...absolutely spot on ! 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted December 8, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 8, 2019 At last the two plate girder bridges that needed building for Ewer Street are finished, and I can come out of the very tight corner for a breather, if Mrs W Station will be so good as to lever me out. My usual construction for the bridges has been used, that is greyboard and plasicard rivets, I hope the pictures show the construction method. Now I am going to breath in and hope that I am out for lunch time. All the best Adrian. 22
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted December 8, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 8, 2019 Wonderful! Some absolutely cracking modelling mate, as usual it looks like it's been there forever. As I've said before you have an uncanny knack of being able to blend everything together perfectly in both colour and weathering. Al. 1 7

sb67
On 06/05/2015 at 14:10, westerhamstation said: Not a remake of one of my favourite films, (I like the Kenneth More version the best). But the 27 steps and a landing in the middle, starring Chevening-Halt. Built to get the occasional passenger down to the platform from the bridge.(no concessions for less able people in those times) First a paper template was drawn up on the computer to give me the step spacing, which was then glued to a piece of thick card, and then the treads and risers were cut out with a knife. Balsa wood has been used for the steps and stuck down with pva. After it had been assembled, I was looking at the photo of the steps, and on the wall of the bridge you can see a shadow of the handrail and guess what it looks like there is a small half landing. So out with the knife and much muttering I cut the steps in half and inserted a landing. Some pictures of progress so far. Hi Adrian, I was looking back through your thread as I needed some inspiration. I wonder if you can remember how you did the paper template for the steps? I appreciate it was a long time ago, and it may not be simple to explain.just wondered as I was going to make some for my layout. Many thanks. RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted December 30, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 30, 2019 Hi Steve, the template was drawn up in Illustrator on the computer, just a box of the right scale size ie tread and riser, then step and repeated at 45 degrees. if you pm me the dimensions i will draw it up for you and send you the file. All the best Adrian.
