RMweb Gold ChrisN Posted December 10, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 10, 2020 Really clever idea. Try giving it a light sanding, and making sure that they are all level at the top; if they are out at the bottom then it is just wear and tear. Whatever you do, do not bin it. At least start a fire with them.
RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted December 21, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 21, 2020 Well its that time of year when I go up on the roof to make sure that all is safe for Santa. Imagine my suprise when I found out that it didn't have one. Some 2mm gray board for the roof and trusses, Scalescenes TX18a slate paper to cover it with, and a tube of Pritstik soon had that missing roof in place. But paying heed to all the current Covid advice I thought that a chimney might encourage Santa to come inside, so by not having one that should discourage him from trying to get in. He can leave any presents on the roof for collection by Mrs W station later on, when she gets the ladders out to clean the windows. Wishing you all a very safe and a happy as possible Christmas. RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted January 3, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 3, 2021 (edited) Happy New Year to you all, and as I left you with the the warehouse door that didn't look quite right in it's setting, I decided to remove it and replace with something different. My thoughts were that the building should have a name and a purpose and a reception come office area. it has now become the Peek Frean Biscuit company spanning both tracks. The first 2 pictures show the original doors. Next the artwork for the Reception area. Demolition of the doors and walls didn't take long, and the replacement wall and windows and doors put in place. Some steps were made from mount board with the surface paper removed. Pictures of the first day of opening of the new office and reception, further work is needed to bed the building in to its new surrounding are needed as and when. All the Best Adrian. PS can someone please explain to me how to post pictures with spaces in between, and what each picture refers to. As I have tried and it just comes out as below, many thanks to anyone who can help me Adrian. RMweb Gold ChrisN Posted January 3, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 3, 2021 Adrian, Brilliant as usual. Posting Pictures. The pictures go where the cursor is. (The cursor is the flashing bar, not the person you kick when you are annoyed, so that they swear and have to put in the swear box. {Sorry}) So you can either chose one image, or all of them at once, but do not click on the + button. Type: This is what this picture is:- Then press 'Return' four times. Move the cursor back two lines using the 'UP' arrow. Click on the + button on the image you wish to post. Press the 'DOWN' arrow to get to the bottom of the two cursors left, then either another 'Return' or just add more text. Then type another four 'Return' s move the cursor back, post next picture and so on. Clear. No? Try it and it might make sense. (It is easier to do than explain.) So : Picture name: Return Return PICTURE Return Return Picture name: Return Return Post Picture Return Return Hope this helps.
RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted January 3, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 3, 2021 Thank you Chris for such a clear explanation, I will try that on my next post, as ever I am always delighted by the willingness of people on RMWeb to share knowledge with others, which makes this such a good forum. Mike Storey
Absolutely superb modelling once again Adrian. Just a thought - might the Slater's relief letters give you a better 3D impression on signs such as this? The size might not be right though, but I think it could be. I have used them for station signs in 32mm, but they are not too big for large signs in 00.

RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted January 16, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 16, 2021 (edited) No not Luke Skywalker but a covered walkway over the rails to connect the factory to the offices of Messrs Peak Frean biscuit manufacturers. 2mm grey board and plastic U channel was used to stop the staff who had over indulged on free biscuits from falling through the floor, and a corrugated iron roof made using the Acme Mk 1 Corrugator. Some thin card dampened and curved over a rolling pin. corrugated iron. And now the buildings are joined and the staff can pass safely over the tracks. All the best Adrian. Very well observed. ( I just need to stick some wheels on it and I would have another wagon ). All the best Adrian.
RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted January 22, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 22, 2021 A little light for under the canopy and a platform. The platform has been made from 2mm grey board with the front edge cut back to allow the brick edging to sit flush with the surface. Pastelle chalks were used to represent the concrete, the cracks in the concrete surface were made with the edge of a pritstick dracked across and then dusted with chalk and then smeared with my finger. Next to build was a small plasticard canopy roofed with corrugated iron A little light was made for under the canopy from a bead and sequin and the arm was made from a paper clip cut down and and bent. And here is the finished work. All the best Adrian. 23 1 12
jcredfer
Brilliant as ever Mr W, however...... I am sufficiently educated as to be able to count to 8 {one spare, see... that's to be sure there aren't more than 7... credit to my teachers, it must be said.} I also have had a few years experience of Westerham Watch and wonder, just what might become of those 6 other lamps, having noted only one is to be seen below the canopy. Seldom have I seen wasted production effort from the washing machine box recycling factory process. Maybe one more under the far end of the canopy? That still leaves 5 to be allocated to ?????? Tune in later, for the next episode of the Ewer Street light programme.....
RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted January 23, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2021 Hi Julian, you are quite correct in your accounting and your final tally of lamps produced. One was used outside the reception door. Two were going to be used on the warehouse door but only one fitted due to a large brick wall that intruded into its position. One got eaten by the carpet monster. One is going to be used on another building which if the builders ever turn up to complete it, and two are going to be used on the arches on the large brick wall mentioned earlier. Now how many lamps have been used and how many remain, answers on a five pound note to Mrs W Station please. All the best Adrian. 6 1

jcredfer
I got a flight in one of those, as a birthday present, not many years back and actually decided to go for it, despite having read the accident rates, together with the reasons for them. Flying errors, in most planes, can normally be corrected, if not completely drastic and you have enough height, stalls, spins, engine power, too steep climb, lack of airspeed etc. Those things need rather more care, as several such careless mistakes can turn it into a rather noisy brick, with no means to recover back to controlled flight. It was really fun to fly, but not something I will be trying to repeat..... Make sure you have someone with you to hold the Gyro steady whilst you take those pictures, young man.
