blueeighties
Lots of bits and pieces on the bench this week. First up, painting a Bachmann Brassworks 0 gauge class 04 chassis. DSC_0008 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Hornby 4mm class 56s getting a major rebuild with Shawplan parts. DSC_0005 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Bachman class 40 nose ends being altered into the oddity that was 40058. DSC_0004 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Bachmann 37003 body mods. The loco is actually keeping it's identity of 003, but with corrected RSH cant rail grille divider bars, plated boiler port, filled bodysteps, and Bachmanns strange under cantrail grille 'trench' corrected. DSC_0001 by rothburyuk, on Flickr And some finished work. An original rather oddly proportioned Bachmann 37 resprayed as Royal 416. 37416 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 37416a by rothburyuk, on Flickr And shock horror, a persnal project!! Heljan class 27, Shawplan detailed, resprayed and weathered as 27050.And yes, just noticed I need to chrome the cab door handles! blueeighties
How do you fix the rivets on and did 40058 have this modification both ends or just one end? Morning Simon. They are just transfers, so the yellow paint is sufficient to seal and secure. I didn't actually realise, but the doors were just plated at the number one end No matter, I'll just do a pair, one for resale.

Great work on your class 27 Lee... superb Jim Quite correct matey....I really should have been a bit more thorough with my research and saved me going cross eyed!! However, now I have done a pair of them, I'll simply do a pair of locos and offer one for sale
ggdixon
Hi Lee. The weathering on the two 37s you just did for me is excellent, it transforms the base Heljan model. Cheers, Graeme

blueeighties
And then with some further class 37 Scottish headlamp experiments. I need to make quite a few of these with the upcoming 37114 Dunrobin Castle release, and am trying a few different components/techniques. Whatever I do it's not an easy job, these have been made by taking a small length of 1.5mm Fibre optic tube, and then glueing a microscopic nano led to the end of it. lamps by rothburyuk, on Flickr Quite a lot of electrical work going on in the workshop this week. On the bench is a Bachmann class 66, being fitted with fully prototypical, 8 function, lighting. Sound fitted too, but still needing an additional function decoder. This is the mess during testing and setup. Steadfast
DCC is way beyond me, fair play working all that out! One little point, the top marker is not independently controlled. It comes on with either markers, day or night. The only time you'd have front lights illuminated without the top marker is if the bulb had blown! Hope this helps Jo
