Like the 26041..... I wonder how long it ran around with it's wooden door and how many drivers complained of a drafty cab?

All refurbished class 26 doors were wooden, they just had a fibreglass skin, the fibreglass was likely punctured, and replaced with a sheet of ply, if wouldn't have been draughty as there was a 3/4" plywood inner skin.

Ok, controversial post time. 'Dons tin hat and ducks for cover'. The Heljan 0 gauge class 50. I will freely admit, I have a very good working relationship with Heljan, so may be slightly biased. But I'm being honest here. I have just spent a good couple of hours masking a couple of locos cab ends off ready for respraying. It's always nice getting a shell down to bare plastic.....it's interesting to see how over the years design and mouldings have improved. The thing that struck me here is the complications of the windscreen area....I have never seen as many angles, curves, and layers....they have been an absolute nightmare to mask properly. Just makes me wonder if all of the folk who are only too happy to moan at the first published picture of a new model have actually inspected the thing up close, and stood next to the real thing to properly compare. And over to you.......

It looks good

also controversially it seemed In the past that folk would accept any old Heljan o gauge diesel ( shape errors a plenty ) because they were about the only show in town for RTR .

I’m glad to see it seems they’ve brought the A game here .

HI Lee. Just a quick note to say the control boards are here thank you.

Also a quick hijack. I have traced the rough running on my Heljan class 20 to a dud motor. Do you or anyone else on here have any suggestions? No joy with the official spares supplier.

keep healthy and busy

Hi mate. That's quite unusual...never come across a duff 0 gauge motor yet. I take it you have tried Gaugemaster who are now the Heljan spares distributor?

Always good to look at the real thing but i find Brian Daniels albums of flickr are tremendously helpful!

I do like this view!

And i think this one is nice front view of 007

50007

Throwing it back (and I'm not a Heljan basher as I like them alot) do you think Heljan have nailed the subtle nose curves and windscreen angles? It'll be really interesting to see a comparison of the fronts as I've not really looked at the O gauge version. I've attempted to model the nose curve on my Hornby 50s and know its really hard to get looking right and have happily compromised!!

BTW love the railfreight 26 - one day I'm really tempted to try and do something scottish!

cheers

Will

Lee. It seemed quite mild, but of late I had been going over the fleet armed with some CV changes to make my loco's perform better on my small layout. The 20 never was great at low speed, and I thought I would be able to fix it, but one motor is rough, like a bad armature and will not start smooth, ok for a big tail chase layout once moving but no good on my small effort. I have removed it and am running it 1 motor which is a huge improvement, but would like a replacement motor if possible. Sorted the part number on Gaugemasters site and phoned, but they have no spare motors of any description. I will search on the net to see if anything can be found

cheers

Steve

A message from Lee's Locos.

Good morning everyone. Well, what strange times we find ourselves in. I thought I would drop everyone a message, both customers existing and new. So far we are all well fit and healthy here at Lee's Locos towers. I'm thankful that my business is run from home, so social and self isolation is not particularly difficult. As most of my regulars will know, I have a huge backlog of work, which I am genuinely thankful for, and will help to keep a roof over our heads for a considerable amount of time. Please keep your work coming in, so far we still have a slightly amended but fully functioning postal service, I hope we will continue to do so.

A few facts about Lee's Locos that I thought I would point out.

Lee's Locos is a fully functioning 24/7 registered business, I don't do this alongside another job.

The bulk of my work consists of locomotive and stock repainting, weathering, detailing and soundfitting.

I only work in 00 and 0 gauge.

My specialist and core area of expertise is British Rail from the 1970s to 1990s. Other areas considered....drop me a line.

I occasionally have stock for sale, if there is something you are on the lookout for let me know.

During this period, I will also consider purchasing model railway collections of excess stock, perhaps you have some surplus or out of era items you no longer need. I can offer outright purchase or part exchange against work you would like me to do or you have in with me at present, or in part exchange against new purchases.

As we all know the current UK exhibition scene is taking one hell of a battering and looks to be pretty much non existent for the rest of this year at least, a lot of model shops are already taking measures, and we may see a lot of those having to consider trading options too. Just bear in mind I do have access to certain manufacturers products and can supply......I will even consider local hand delivery should anyone need it.

One of the few positives I can see with this, forgetting for a moment the madness of excessive toilet roll and panic buying, is that we may all find ourselves with some enforced additional modelling time on our hands. Get those long standing shelved and drawered projects out, tubes of glue, bits of plywood, and get building!

Above all, respect what the Government is advising us to do, adhere to said advice, and keep yourselves and loved ones safe and healthy as can be until this scary virus works it's way through and gets back under control.

Feel free to contact me during normal working hours on....

Hi Lee

Please may I enquire as to what you have used for the cantrail dividing bars. I have had several attempts but have not found anything that I like as yet and your look closer than others I have seen

Thanks Rob

An update regarding sale stock via Lee's Locos.

Good afternoon guys. I hope this message finds everyone well, and hopefully enjoying a bit of 'at home' modelling time. Small mercies.

Just to let you know I am happy to announce I now have a proper shop on my website. You can access it here....

http://www.leeslocos.co.uk/index.html

Simply select the 'Shop' section via the categories under my main logo banner.

It's early days, so there aren't currently a lot of items on there, plus, obviously, supply is not particularly plentiful at present due to current circumstances. However we will get there, and over time lots more will be added.

Any purchases can be made via Paypal, there is also the option of bank transfer, the 2 main methods that everyone has used to pay me during the last couple of years.

The big plus for me is the switch over to auto operation....the stock is live, can be purchased and paid for, and automatic invoices are generated. As you all know, when I do get a lot of stuff in for sale and it is all done via email, it's extremely hectic and time consuming having to deal with invoicing and communication. This will ultimately streamline the operation a bit, and free my hands up to spend more time working with the airbrush and getting the backlog of work down. That's the theory anyway :-)

The bulk of the items listed on there will be used stock, however I am open to suggestions, I would appreciate feedback from everyone as to what you may like to see for sale. If there is enough demand iI will make it happen.

Thanks for looking and your support, as always any questions just shout.

Afternoon Rob. I used acetate glazing sheet. Nice and thin, easy to glue in place.
