Grimleygrid
Hi David, here is a photo taken of a Peco large radius point next to the C&L point: image by AP474, on Flickr Hope that helps. We have just placed the silos on the board to see how they look. image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr Whilst Will still needs convincing of my idea to run New Southwich in BR days as well as during the Late EWS/early DB days I took the opportunity for a bit of Banger Blue action: image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr Nice! Colin parks
Hi Will, You have made an impressive start judging by the photos. It was a brave and commendable move from RTR track to British track, hand-made from C&L components. The point comparison says it all really! All the best, Colin

Grimleygrid
This afternoon the silos were glued to the bases, we used a laser level to help with getting the silos the correct height. image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr Next job is to get the tops added in readiness for painting. RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted November 17, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 17, 2013 Nice point work Will. As mentioned before, the hand-built points look so much better than commercial points. How are you planning to operate? Conventional Seeps / Peco point 'motors' (i.e. solenoids) do not work so well with hand made points, as the point motors rely on the over-centre spring to hold the blades over. We had problems with the Seeps used on the hand built points on Tawbridge, hence changing over to servos. Manual operation with wire-in-tube or similar work fine, with a little resistance to hold over and of course a switch to change the frog polarity. Oh, don't forget to add the wires to the frog etc.

As for an update for tonight, I placed the point onto the layout and marked out where the other points will go. Thanks, Will

Grimleygrid
A little progress on the silos. Grimley Senior has kindly made the cone shaped parts that sit under the silo, and what a superb job he has made of them. Very impressed and pleased with the result. This is how they started off: image by AP474, on Flickr And here they are: image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr This is what you will see once installed at the bottom of the silo and enclosed: image by AP474, on Flickr Next I need to get the enclosed boxed structures made up, painted and weathered. Once the walkway that straddles the four silos has been finished we can then make a start on painting the silos.
Southwich
Hi all, Tonight I have finished building the trap point for the layout. It will be put just in front of the main line point. Pics to follow: Untitled by southwichrailway, on Flickr Untitled by southwichrailway, on Flickr Untitled by southwichrailway, on Flickr The rails still need to be cut to size after I have fitted the point on the layout. Any feedback is much appreciated, Thanks, Will
