Hi,

would anyone happen to know when eactly this box closed, as I understand it carried on for a while after closure of the through route in order to turn backl the passenger trains?

Also any other info about the box would be interesting to read,

There's a little bit here: http://www.signalbox.org/branches/nfl/hadfield.htm and this is what got the interest juices flowing,

Ahh near the signal post that still remains then. Ill have a close look for what remains when I go on Friday. Thanks.

If you take any pictures they would be of interest if you fancy posting them. The signal was just beyond the box.

The image looks to be copied from the Johnson Foxline book I referred you to in the other thread you asked the question in (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/57964-msl-signalboxes/?p=954408).  There is quite a lot of info beneath each photo as you'd expect from Eddie Johnson.  In fairness to Eddie & Foxline, I'd refer you to the book.

Alastair,

Many thanks.   Have now got a copy.

7th December 1984 according to this.

This was when the line was re-electrified from 1.5kV DC to 25kV AC.
