...Portsmouth seems to be a problem area for getting people to attend shows....

There's no answer to that.... ;)

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Seriously though, it's always going to be a problem when half your catchment area is in the Sea.

Also, while Portsmouth is well served by regional and local rail services, the venue is a long hike from the main railway stations. Road access is really good though.

Could the proximity to the Southampton show (two weeks before) also have an affect on attendances?

Whatever, I'm hoping to get down there if all goes well.

Hi

Hilsea is the nearest station about 0.7 miles from the exhibition. However I think there is only a limited number of trains that stop there.

Next nearest is Fratton - all trains stop here. Its about 2.5 miles from the exhibition

I might attend this, living in Havant does have it's bonuses, and the event happens to fall on the last day of Week 1 of my annual leave.

Depending on where you travel from by train. South West Trains and Southern do operate services that call at Hilsea. Great Central, if your attending Basingstoke, a train from London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour via Basingstoke should call at Hilsea, and vice versa.

National rail also show NO engineering works in the area for the weekend.

The walk isn't too bad, and can take up to 20 mins.

Thanks for that, I'm coming from Nottingham so will be from Waterloo.

see how the times, (and the weather!) are on the day.

Don't trust the weather forecast, it was supposed to be dire this weekend, went to Chapel-en-le-Frith today, not somewhere to go if the weather, rather than just the forecast, is bad
