UP Big Boy to steam again in 2019

The tracks of the two lines weave back & forth thru Cajon pass and seems to be a mecca for rail photographers

There are actually 4 tracks.  The three main ones are BNSF but UP have trackage rights. The 4th (The Palmdale Cutoff ) belongs to UP. The whole place is a fabulous place for watching trains. The old route 66 follows it closely.

Driving down the pass on Interstate 15 on a Sunday evening with five lanes of maniacs coming back from Lost Wages is really scary.

Kansas Santa Fe Junction is a fantastic location but was fairly quiet when we were there in 2018. Watched 4014 go thru twice as one pc had a 10 seconds delay compared to the other one that I had on at the time!

If you are watching VR it has a 12 hour buffer so you can watch many times over:good:
