08 628 D3795 / 08 629 D3796 were my favourites; I used to ride on them when they first arrived at Bletchley.

08221, 08403 and 08235 were my favourite 3 - have models of them all and the Bachmann green 08011 too.

Happy memories - any photos of the above would be very welcome!

Take care and stay safe.

Is that Grimsby Town looking towards Garden Street crossing?

Paul.

I have no idea. I seem to recall being in that neck of the woods a long time ago, but I also thought that my presence there pre=dated my having a camera that could take a snap like that.

My dad's birthday would seem an appropriate day for a ride behind Horwich built D4095, later 08881. Here it is seen waiting for D2128 (03128) to back on, for a double headed run along the mile or so of track south from Midsomer Norton, on 7th March.

My dad was born in Horwich, and started his railway career in the works, stripping steam locos as they came in for overhaul.

Is the second one still in black? Looks like it.

Ah memories. Some of my earliest train trips, at least ones that I remember, were in class 104 or 110 dmu's, from Ansdell to Kirkham or Preston.

Remember 08881 as it was often parked at the west end of Edinburgh Waverley station near the signal box.

Had a drop-down buckeye coupling fitted for shunting HST stock and for a long time was the highest numbered 08 that I had seen.

Nice to know that it is still around.

The LNER ordered a small number of 350 hp shunters in 1941for construction at Doncaster,  near-cousins of the 08.

https://www.lner.info/locos/IC/des1.php

I recall seeing 3 ot the class at Crewe South 5B shed late in 1967, believed withdrawn from service

Strange they ended up so far from their Doncaster origins.

Does anyone have any photographs of the ex-LNER 15000 diesel shunters?

I am going to add this one that was taken on a very wet day at St Phillips Marsh depot in 2016. ( Four years ago, how time flies>)

I'm not an expert on the 08, but that example appears to have an extra electrical conduit running from the cab to the front just underneath the bonnet handrail. Is this a common modification?

Cheers
