Some years back while looking around the shed there at Hayes Knoll I was invited into the cab by its owner. It had had new radiator ladders fabricated but ISTR the side wall of what had been the vacuum exhauster box (on the other side) was flat up against the engine compartment, presumably to cover the hole! 1

Too many cross compatiblity issues and alot of legal wrangling....

The batch concerned was D5671 to D5676 (31243 - 31248). I've seen a photo of one of them (D5675 I think) brand new without them, which would indicate that they weren't so fitted from new. And.......back to Class 08s! Yellow bufferbeam on a green 'un not common. I think this was mainly ER and LMR? Don't recall seeing any on the WR or SR like this. No idea about the ScR, but I don't think so (cue photos proving otherwise! )

Cheers, Phil. Thanks for posting these Phil. I drove passed these 2 a few weeks ago on my way from Leeds to my Uncle's funeral but didn't have time to stop ...so you have taken the photos that I would have liked to have. I think that they both look very smart and particularly like the IC striped loco. Regards, Ian.

6990WitherslackHall
Not an 08, but an 09, which is similar in appearance to the 08. Anyway, saw 09017 on the back of a very famous steam locomotive at the National Railway Museum in York on 21/08/21 Edited January 31, 2022 by 6990WitherslackHall
