andytrains
Think this pic first appeared on Railchat a couple of years back. the episode in question.... scan0001.jpg Try doing that at an exhibition.... Regards Mike We all had a good laugh at this one as we stood about here spotting. We referred to it as the 'rack and pinion' shunter. We really only went there to see the 'rack and pinion' and the steam locos at Stewart and Lloyds opposite and then the class 14 shunters in the sidings opposite. long island jack
Workington use to have 3 of Carlisle 08's,for various jobs, yard work ,steelworks exchange and MOD Broughton moor trip, now there's nothing here just weeds!!! 402,447,569 stabled with a couple of duffs 447 with the second morning trip to Workington steelworks,it had already trip the first half of the train. 826 standing in the platform, waiting the road with the MOD Broughton moor trip. 827 on another day with the return MOD trip 808,419 stabled at Workington 826 shunting the yard 419 standing in Workington steam shed, which was then(70's-80's) used by PW for wagon repairs and as a fueling point. when the fueling point closed in the late 80's and Workington was down to one 08,there was a Sunday only job(when needed) they had to trip the shunter to Kingmoor for fuel, 35 mile @15mph not one of the crews favorite jobs.!! Ray Great pictures there Ray, especially 08419 in the shed. It is always good to have some information to go with the pictures, helping to explain what was going on. I only went there once, travelled overnight from Bristol - Carlisle, then down to Workington on the first DMU of the day, took a few photos there, Whitehaven and Barrow, then back down the WCML and home via Bristol, cheers
