Sodbury Vale Model Railway Club present their 29th Annual Model Railway Exhibition on Saturday 26 January 2013.

This year the show will take place at:

St Mary's Church and Church Hall

Church Road

Yate

South Gloucestershire

BS37 5BG

Opening Times: 10.00 am to 4.30 pm

Admisssion: £4 Adults; £3 Concessions & £2 Children

This year the show will be held in a much larger venue as the club have secured the use of St Mary's Church itself in addition to the Church Hall. It is a short walk from Yate Shopping centre where there is plenty of free parking (please note that there is only disabled parking adjacent to the church/hall).

There will be 12 working layouts, trade support, demonstrations and refreshments.

Yikes....the show has come around quickly..... its on Saturday.

Needless to say the team are now addicted to internet weather sites. After the Arctic conditions of the weekend just gone, (at the moment) next Saturday looks a lot better so fingers crossed.

You might want to have a look at this C&L Update as you may need to change your shopping plans..

Unfortunately, it looks as though Pete's illness will preclude C+L from attending the show. We wish him a speedy return to health.

The heavy snow which was threatened overnight in the South West doesn't seem to have affected Yate - certainly not from the viewpoint from my backdoor.  So it looks as though we will have few weather problems running up to the weekend and the forecast for Saturday looks positively balmy - 6C. :D

Is there parking for exhibitors on site?

Yes.   The parking in the school adjacent to the church is being provided for exhibitors.     There is parking closer to the church and the hall and this can be used by exhibitors to unload/load before parking up at the school.   The parking area close to the church is not all that spacious and we aim to keep this available for disabled drivers during opening hours.

The best solution for visitors looking for parking will be the large car park at the shopping centre just a short walk away but they should note that there is a four hour limit on a stay in the car park and the owners are quite active in applying penalty charges if cars overstay their welcome.  They use number plate recognition technology so the overstay monitoring is automated,  so no parking wardens to plead your case to - if that ever helped.  :D

Threat - can only be avoided by copious supplies of bacon sandwiches......

Oh Lord!!!  We don't have facilities for hot food so it looks as though we shall have to brace ourselves for what might appear.  Or we could try changing our advertising and applying for an entertainment licence for the day,  and making some money out of it. :biggrin_mini2:

And heavy rain overnight seems to have cleared off most of the snow.  so there should be no problems for any exhibitors getting to Yate.   The forecast is for the day to remain dry until late afternoon,  so hopefully visitors will be encouraged to come in their hundreds. :)

Here are a few snaps I took during what was for a rather hectic day for the members of the Sodbury Vale MRC.

Guys, I just wanted to say, I had a great time at Yate on Saturday :)

Thanks so much for the invitation, and for everyones' help in unloading etc
What a great show! Honestly, it was a real pleasure to exhibit

The collection of layouts was great - a nice mixed line-up,
and of such high standard!

And I am more than pleased that you've asked me back next year
I'll get the date straight into my diary

It was nice to be next to Gordon & Maggie Gravett too - 2 of my modelling icons, and such nice, genuine people with it :)
I bought a lovely print from Alan Ward next to me too....
A Blue Pullman rushing through Chipping Sodbury - a cracking image
(Especially as the Triang Blue Pullman was my 1st trainset)

Anyhow, I could ramble on for hours
If you missed the show, you missed out - so be sure to go next year

And a special thanks to my pal Roger (Rouse2037) for coming along in the afternoon to help out

Cheers all

Marc

Can I just agree with all the comments Marc has made. The show set a very high standard indeed.

The Pixash Team were very impressed with the whole show and the help I received to unload when I arrived ahead of my helpers was very much appreciated.

My thanks also to my team who came from far and wide to drive my trains.

As I mentioned above, there were so many good layouts in attendance,
and it would be unfair, and difficult to single any one out, as being of higher standard than any of the others,

but I had missed earlier photos of Pixash Lane,
and I have to say, I was taken aback - I thought it was superb!

Absolutely lovely is there a thread? I'd like to see more photos, and a plan, if poss? :)

Cheers again
