RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 16, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 16, 2021 An unusual visitor to Mid-Wales. This 'Crompton' was rostered on a military special from Marchwood to Llanddewi as far as Newport, where a loco change was booked. After some delay there, the booked W.R. loco was declared a failure, so the S.R. crew were prevailed upon to act as traction conductors to the W.R. crew as far as Capel Bethesda, from where an MoD loco took the train forwards, up the light railway to Llanddewi. The 'Crompton' rests in the yard, whilst the crew have a well-earned break in the adjacent shunters cabin, prior to returning light engine and van to the Southern Region: 17

RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted February 19, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 19, 2021 Dick Wolsley might not quite have got his focus right, when he took this slightly elevated view of 1628 in Bethesda yard, but then again, he was not as good as Ben Ashworth at climbing trees, and was probably only holding onto his camera with one hand:
