Boris
Anyone heard anything about NYMR 0-6-2T 6614 breaking its crank axle recently? Edward Unfortunately this happened in October so it's not as recent as you think! The driving axle has a number of cranks attached to it, and it is one of these that has become loose. I was chatting to one of the owners the other day and he was saying that it the opinion of various railway professionals is that this is a mechanical defect that has most likely been with the loco since it was built. He was also saying that repairs are apparently progressing on said axle, and he did tell me when it was likely to be finished, unfortunately having a memory like a goldfish it escapes me. DLPG
I was told that 6619's axle should be back and the loco up and running April time by one of the fitters working on the line.
