Welcome to our new exhibition thread.

I will update the top page throughout the year.

I am pleased to announce that we have made the jump from a small model railway show (Comm-rail) staged in our local community centre to become a much larger ‘modelling show’ encompassing many more aspects of small scale modelling.

In line with the 60% increases in floor space on 2012 there will be a larger contingent of model railways to whet your appetites and currently we are looking at around 13 layouts including some, which are so large that they would not have fitted into the previous location!

The continued support of Cheltenham models and D&E videos alongside a variety of specialist traders should prove sufficient to tempt your pockets over the weekend?

THEMODELSHOW is very much a ‘hands on modellers show’ and a large area of table top modelling displays and demonstrations will be staged to expand on the many techniques and materials used. The wider variety of retailers present will also give modellers the opportunity to purchase materials not usually seen at shows.

We are pleased to be able to continue at &5.00 per adult, (adult accompanied) under 18’s free and (photo ID) UK forces and service personnel £3.50; despite the far higher operating costs we now face.

Our web-site themodelshow.co.uk is currently being built so I will announce its opening here…… and hopefully soon? Our e mail: info@themodelshow.co.uk should be up and running by the time of this post, or shortly afterwards.

Cheers for now

An interesting comment that has cropped up on our other thread... so pasting here also for continuity..

will be back on later in week with further 2013 content and info..

cheers Mark

In a current forum discussion on the www.oolivesteam.com website forum about attendance at shows, The Model show has been flagged as a possible future event for the OO Live Steam Club to consider approaching re exhibiting the clubs roadshow and hands on driver training experience. I realise its a long time in advance but can you confirm if the show will be held regularly, and if so will it always be at the same time. An answer will help our club with its forward planning for exhibition attendances.

Chris Oakes

OO Live Steam Club Membership Secretary

Chris, yes TMS is a permanent calender event:

2014- 6/7 Dec

2015- 5/6th Dec

2016- 3/4th Dec

We have most of 2014, around half of 2015 and some 2016 content confirmed so any time your group are ready, let us have the details... the further in advance the better.. we are also planning on increasing the size and diversity of the show annually for a few more years to come..

Heading page updated again with more new content and a last minute change of layout from Holcombe Brook to Reddering (both via Peter Chrichton of LYDCC Group)..

TMS is about more than just modelling railways however and as a taster i submit a picture of one of Paul Blyth's award winning warships.. these truly speak for themselves..

not long to go now.. local public roadside advertising signs went up today.. well 10 mile  radius if you can call that local?

cheers

Mark

Can't wait again for this!

I've seen Paul's ships close up and they are PHENOMENAL, trust me. They are built totally from scratch and are worth the asdmission fee on their own.

I will be there with my own plastic abuse roadshow, and all my latest stock/locos for Glasgow Queen St will be on view. Any RMWebbers planning on coming along, make yourself known to me - there's always the opportunity to have a sit down and a chat with a brew!

Mark's doing his level best to bring a modellers show to this area, so if you can make it, get down as there wil be lots to look at, not only for Railway modellers but Aeronautical and Maritime modellers as well.

cheers

Andy

BTW, that photo of Paul Blyth's cruiser - the model is about 8 ft long!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who attended the show in whatever capacity this weekend.

The flow of kind comments and responses from the exhibitors and visitors alike regarding the operation, layout and quality of the content of the show was most humbling.

Despite: some horrific weather conditions just prior; one third of the show team being ill; the advertising and traffic signs disappearing as fast as I replaced them; the printers mucking up the programme a week before; several content cancellations and changes in the run up and during the show... it was opened on time with no gaps and maintaining our anticipated mix of modelling mediums.

This in no small part is due to the extra effort of a large number of modellers and the Sports centre staff, who really pulled out the stops for us.... I have spoken with each already but would like to note publicly that the best thanks TMS can give them is to ensure that we will build upon the start they have given us and be back in 2014 with a bigger and an even better array of scale modelling.

We will post some photos in the coming days once we have finished returning all the kit to its rightful homes and recover from a very busy but worthwhile experience..

cheers again

I've said it before Mark, but you and Keith are doing something very worthwhile and purposeful here.

To bring a genuine modellers experience to this part of the country is something that is long overdue. Reputations are built over years and to think that this is only your third show, just highlights the distance you have travelled in a very short time.

Keep at it - this is the long game you're playing here, not a flash in the pan effort and I will endeavour to get something tangible constructed this year on my project, so that you have another 'something new' to offer the public next Christmas.

Well done y'all, I had a quality weekend, as I know everyone else did.

cheers

cheers Andy and especially for the heads up on the figures demo for 2014,

As we've said we are expanding TMS year on year, for some time to come and 2014 will see at least 3 new genres attending the show, each of which will represent another group of people modelling... i.e. making stuff to scale themselves, the displaying and demonstrating of which is the basis of TMS..

From the railway modelling perspective we have the finer scales represented at the 2014 show with some excellent modelling alongside all the usual rtr elements you may expect to see..

cheers mark
