This year the ever impressive Beamish Open Air Museum, is expanding its usual Spring Transport event to cover three weekends each with a different theme.

4th - 7th April is titled 'Our Friends Electric' and specifically to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Tramway, with visiting cars invited from other tramways. [see also the specific thread in the Tramways forum]

11th  -14th April is the now regular 'Great North Steam Fair' with a variety of atractions on rails, roads and stationary (infact anything goes so long as it is steam powered!)

18th - 21st April is titled 'Old King Coal' and will particularly focus on the colliery village, celebrating the mining industry of the area.

The NRM's Rocket Replica is scheduled to visit for the latter two weekends. The plan being for it to operate the first on the waggonway alongside the resident locomotion replica, then transfer to the collery for the last weekend.

Full details are on the Beamish website and also Paul Jarman's (Curator of Transport) blog.
