Just arrived from Hattons lovingly delivered by Yodel.

All four buffers have detached in transit though. Will let Hattons know but will reattach myself - Not a difficult job but it shouldn't be necessary with good packaging. Thankfully Steve's photos show which way up they go.

A job at some point will be to work out how to change the destination blinds.

Can someone who actually has the model tell me if the axle boxes and the wheels align properly because on the picture on the Tower web site it seems that the wheel centre can be seen lower than the axle box which would mean the body is riding too high. Or it may just be the way the photo is taken or a pre production model. Just interested.

Yes, the wheels do seem slightly lower than the axle box would align them...... hadn't noticed that! A minor detail, no doubt an engineering compromise in fitting motor / gears in a confined space. Could open up the whole "how accurate do you want a working model to be?" that appears in many other threads.....

I only received mine yesterday, but it certainly looks the part on it's first run in the great outdoors. I'll weather it a little and be renumbering it as SC79979 soon which brings me to....

Destination blinds - I've got Tetbury and Special, but would like to change them to something more relevant for me. Anybody worked out how to change the route???

Thanks

Now received my model, very pleased with it.

Anyone like to recommend the transfers required for SC79979 renumbering? Ie which sheet of Fox Transfers or others to use? BR coaching stock not being my specialism...

Thanks

Dava

The dark green with whiskers has now sold out at Heljan!

On that basis I wonder if they will consider doing a 121 or 122 unit. I think there's a market for small, self contained passenger trains.

I would agree and also think 2 car DMU's would also be very popular.

Obviously Bachmann Brassworks produced a class 101 (minus window 'glass'/internal fittings etc) a while back but I think say a Heljan version could be a great success as they operated virtually everywhere in the UK.

The 101 was no doubt the most numerous but I would like a 105 Cravens too!

Hi, try HMRS Sheet 14 BR Steam era Loco and Coach Lettering and Insignia. I usually get my transfers from Tower Models, cost is £20 per sheet + P&P.

I did wonder if Tower's usual loco / coach numbering service of £25 would have been worth doing this time, but there would have been an additional charge for removing the existing number and weathering to disguise the new number. Since I've already got the sheet for coach numbering anyway, will be having a go myself.....

Remember that the "W" prefix's all found their way to Scotland anyway.......

It's an expensive business!!

Except for Sc79979 which was never a WR one and always had the Sc prefix. Needs horns on the roof, too. It was actually the first of all railbuses to be delivered, ACCars numbering from the highest, downwards.
