Popular Post phil.c
Hi all, Just getting back to my layout after about ten years, it's 00, SMP, scratchbuilt points and most of the buildings, i'm concentrating on the detailing at the moment. Douglas G
What beautiful, atmospheric modelling. I love the way the layout blends into the photographic backscene, especially the trees in the second picture. Great stuff! Douglas
cary hill
Excellent modelling. I find the shots centred around the signal box particularly convincing. As a matter of interest what is the approximate size of the layout ?
Popular Post phil.c
Thanks both, The layout is about 18' x 10'. Here's some Photoshop stuff from the signal box area, basically a conversion to B&W and some smoke/steam added, and under the washery. aberdare
That's some excellent work you have done there, I prticularly like the way the scenery flows into the backscene creating a feeling of depth and distance. I look forward to seeing more. Jim
Popular Post phil.c
Thanks Jim, here's a few more, in case you're wondering what's on the walls, it's sound proofing because my layout is in the same room as my music studio, it has now been lifted to allow the backscene to be added. sparks
Looking great - the colliery in particular is very evocative of my childhoood in the valleys. Is the washery based on Blaenserchan..? Stuart
Popular Post phil.c
Stuart, the colliery, because of it's size limitation is generic, as you know, for me to portray an actual colliery, I would need all of my 18" and more! Here's some more shots of it but before the backscene was added. Phil

aberdare
Hi Phil I like the first and fourth shots in particular as they show that feeling of depth again with the foreground blending into the backscene very well. I do like shots through tunnels or bridges too, it frames the scene really well. Going back a bit further (post 18) I liked the first shot with the cracked base in the yard, very realistic. alanbuttler
Hi Phil, loving these photographs, agree with Aberdare, the blend between foreground and background is excellent. Particularly like your photoshop'd steam as well, very affective.
