Resurrection of old thread…. as a result of new thread on Oxford area car trains…

 

There are a number of photos of Solihull station in the late 50s in the Lightmoor Press book, British Railways - the first 25 years - Volume 2 - West Midlands by J Allan and A Murray. In the background of the photos are wagons with the sheeting with the Pressed Steel info on - there is reference to services from Cowley for Rover (Solihull) and in another photo, reference to the ‘9-15 Morris Cowley to Longbridge’ of similar wagons, surmising it’s recessed at Solihull - headed by a 94xx pannier tank in the photo - presumably awaiting tripping forwards toward Bordesley and then on to Longbridge.
