'New' Layout idea by adapting a board from Sweethome Alabama

Looks like it's going to be difficult./impossible to find one in HO scale, though Adrian - 40s/50s no real problem , Late 80s/90s available - 60s/70s like rocking horse manure!

I'd consider starting with something like this: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/729-90346 or this: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/729-901532

You'd have to fab the rear frames and the dually wheels, and the cab is the next generation, but you could get close.

Possibly use the rear of something like this: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/785-5557 (admittedly a bit expensive for a kitbash) or this: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/949-11292

Adrian - all those Walthers links come up with Part number not found, unfortunately, but it sounds as though Jon has a solution

I think Walthers' database is broken at the moment. Searching for anything (like HO Vehicles) fails.

That looks like a good one too - it would need the rear frames lengthened/modified, but otherwise I'd think that would work.

I remembered what the problem about trying to date photos from vehicles is - outside the 'rust belt', vehicles tend to last a lot longer, meaning many more older vehicles are seen. In the North-East and Midwest you tend to see very few older vehicles due to the ravages of road salt. In the Pacific NorthWest and ths southern parts of the US they use little or no road salt, so the vehicles don't deteriorate as quickly.
