And equally interesting, four years after the war ended, to see the driver's side window still with the anti-blast plating in place. It took a bit of persuasion to get going but given that it had never run before and the limitations of Duncans' test track I was happy with it. I'll stick it on the rolling road for a couple of hours at some point. I will as the ES1 only went as far as the yard and not out on to the Quayside itself. An 03 would also be useful depending on what year I decide to base the layout on. Tyneside clerestory electrics so that I may build a rake of them (either 3D printed or brass etched), but I am having some great difficulties locating any reference material. Because I am in the States, it's difficult for me to schedule visits to archives, so that limits my scope of research. The internet does not have many photos or drawings of them, and a lot of the pictures and links posted here no longer work. If anyone has references they are able to share (i.e. diagrams, component drawings, photos, even videos if possible!), please feel free to add them to the thread. It will be out of print but if you can obtain a copy it's a good start. Don't pay the silly Amazon price £80!?!? There are book sellers with it at sensible prices. The booklet is available from the North Eastern Railway Association (NERA) https://ner.org.uk/product/ner-electric-traction-on-tyneside-1904/ I haven’t seen the contents personally…..so not sure how relevant to your needs but it could be of interest. NERA also have carriage diagrams books. There are 5 volumes and they run in date sequence. The “North Eastern Railway Passenger Train Vehicles” Diagram book 2 has diagrams of the 1904 clerestory electric stock. These diagrams are basic, but do have the main dimensions and show the layout of the interiors as well as the exterior. If you are a member you can also search the photo and magazine archive. I made a quick search on the photos (“Tyneside electric “). This turned up 3 or 4 photos of the clerestory stock. A bit more effort would probably find a few more photos. If anyone here knows which of the books, other than Volume 2, have the "Elliptical" stock, then that would be much appreciated! It would save me a bit of money instead of buying all of them to check for a few things. Also, does the "NER Passenger Train Rolling Stock as at December 31st 1906 (numerical listing)" actually have any diagrams? I'm not sure what the contents of that is either.
