Hope he was in court for that  seen some crazy things on this thread but this.

Daft thing was is if you look at the map it wouldn't have been much out of the way to use the roads.

As it was he nearly got stuck more than once.

He joined at the Marion St crossing and left at the Mulberry St crossing.

Why not turn around and go up S Keyser Ave? Then turn right and you are at Mulberry St crossing:

What a reckless display of stupidity.

...I hope he got the bill for re-tamping the ballast - whether it needed it or not.

Hitting the idiots with expensive costs modifies their behaviour faster than a Darwin's Award nomination.

Not quite sure that this is the correct place for this level crossing breech by the train driver in Australia, but if the mods want to move it, that's OK by me.

Frightening to hear that a relatively civilised country like Oz hadn't got "a protection system .... that could stop trains that pass signals at danger." installed !

Normally they do, but I can't comment as I have no idea of the circumstances at that location.

Apparently the police are not investigating, although the number plate seems reasonably clear. Maybe BTP will show more interest........?

AO13BGE, even I can see that.

We have a couple of sets of traffic lights round here, controlling narrow  Bridges (crossing the thames), one of which is 200 yards long. This type of game is common there in rush hour. Last night a merc was positioned behind me on the wrong side for a good 20 car lengths ready to put the boot down if the lights changed.

Taxed to 2021, MOT to June 2020

And insured.....a very legal vehicle with a very illegal driver!

Even ignoring the level crossing he/she crossed double white central lines, I really cannot understand the police not bothering though, seems a slam dunk for their book.

Saw a nice one the other day : two lines of traffic slowly approaching traffic lights at red and one car shot across from the left hand lane  in front of everyone in the right hand lane to get pole position there ........................ unfortunately there's a significant phasing delay for the 'turning right' lane so he had to sit and watch as all the left lane got past him - serves him right.

Lack of resources.  Made a 999 call to report a lunatic driver.  Was told there was no car available to deal with it. This was on the outer ring road in a large city...

With so much off-topic postings it is getting harder to search this thread for on-topic items so apologies in advance if this has been mentioned before and I have overlooked it.

Appears the Ffestiniog has had another case of a loco failing to stop.  in this case 'Vale of Ffestiniog' ran away for 1.25 miles through open crossings and Beddgelert station and onto a single line section without authorisation before coming to a halt.

Not level crossing related but as this thread seems also to cover trespass in general,

That's my excuse as well. ;-)

Most people would think it one of the most unobjectionable films ever made but film censors revealed on Thursday that The Railway Children had received its first complaint – 42 years after its release. It was not the sugary sentimentality, nor young Peter's bucket of water on the door prank with the maid. Not even Jenny Agutter boldly whipping off her red bloomers to prevent a crash. No, the British Board of Film Classification said a correspondent had raised concerns that seeing the jolly japes of the three Edwardian children might encourage children to play on railway tracks.

No complaints yet received about Jenny Agutter ripping off her underwear?

If they complained about that on this film, god only knows what they would think about "Walkabout"

And Sally Tomsett, don't forget!  (Who was* actually two years older than Jenny Agutter, despite playing the younger of the two sisters.  So an eleven year old portrayed by a petite 20 year old - though the extent of the age discrepancy was concealed from the crew during the filming, and so successfully that they used to give her sweets!

And before anyone gets too excited at the idea: it was actually their flannel petticoats that they used to warn the 11:29 about the landslide.

* And still is, of course.
