Great day to choose, any chance of publicity wiped out by D-Day.

The 75th anniversary makes D-Day dominate the news this year but the article says it's been going on since 2009.

I was looking for the Monty Python sketch on Belgians. I found it as part of this.

Note when this was compiled, they threw away the PC rule book!

No - that was in the good ol' days before the PC Rule Book was written .... when men were men and could get away with insulting ( Miserable Fat ) Belgians ( of questionable parentage ) without attracting a hornet's nest of litigation lawyers.

Like, "in this day and age", you just did...    :yahoo_mini::yahoo_mini::yahoo_mini:

This has been done in several cases in France. Either the two sides of the road are separated by a raised kerb, or the area between them is excavated out, then backfilled with fine gravel, like that used in escape routes on steep hills.

This should link to a Google view of a crossing near our vines in Beaujolais, which uses the raised kerb, at least on one side:- https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@45.9231482,4.5625037,3a,75y,90h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sXlIinSAjukIrDkX-wy7uKQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en-GB  Though the road is only a Departmental, it carries quite a lot of traffic, either locals travelling to Lyon or HGVs carrying timber from local forests.

Not to mention the "Punishment duty" gate box there lol:diablo_mini:

Joking aside it would be interesting to see how an impatient driver would react to this type of crossing if you put it in a city location. The crossing at Portslade often has cars parked across it when the sequence starts, cue much frantic maneuvering and horn beeping. They STILL haven't painted in the cross hatch into the yellow box there either. Although I regard a level crossing as being the ultimate box junction essentially. I have actually had people hooting at me because i stopped short to keep the crossing clear...

Like the two Aer Lingus pilots on their first day.

Hey Paddy, sure this runway is very short.

Yur right Mick, but look at the width of it!

It's the sort of thing they should put on the box a bit more often, where it might, slowly, get the message across.

In at least two of those incidents the first barrier was down, or almost so, but the second barrier hadn't started to descend, and the crossing abuser managed to collide with the one barrier that was down!

Swerving round the barrier at speed while towing a cattle trailer should be right up there in the list of "things you don't want your boss/business partner/wife to know you did".
