RMweb Gold Popular Post gwrrob Posted July 30, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 30, 2020 A few quick shots of the new Hornby large prairie this afternoon. I was a bit concerned on unwrapping the parcel as I could hear the dreaded rattle inside. A front buffer had come off in transit but was in the box and duly returned to the hole with a push. Now my thoughts. Very plastic looking ,look at the shine, although the green is better but still miles behind Bachmann. It runs through all my points with no problems, the pony truck is fine on mine although so have had issues. The front steps are splayed like @County of Yorkshire pointed out yesterday. They may correct with light pressure. I had hoped the front boiler step was in the high position for this version but looks too low to me on inspection. Not having much diecast in it's construction means it's a lightweight but it appears elsewhere to have prototypical haulage capacity. Photos on an up service anon. 16 1
RMweb Gold Ian Hargrave Posted July 30, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 30, 2020 Thank you Robin. At last a livery impression that I regard as trustworthy. Yes it does have that plasticky sheen that screams out for a job by TBG. That plus a set of etched plates of course Doesn’t seem to have the downward dip in the front of the running plate that Harlequin’s earlier Great Western version has.Agree the green is nowhere nearly as good as Bachmann’s. Anyway ....enjoy. Not too sure of this one personally.
RMweb Gold Popular Post gwrrob Posted July 30, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 30, 2020 As promised a few more. The plastic coal load pops out easily if you want to model half a bunker full. 18

brianusa
Those wheels! Although not necessarily in favour of shiny rims, these need some relief from the 'pitch black, can't make anything else out', finish. Or is it better out of the photo?
