Or.....no I won't go there far too rude !!!

In the old unofficial phonetic alphabet it was "P for a penny".

And by the way, who are you calling "mush", mush?

I did get this wonderful NRM exclusive 9400 the other day (after being lost by UPS for almost a week!). Sorry for not the best quality image!

She is a great hauler, that being also super heavy! Probably one of my best haulers right now! Way better than most locos in my collection so far, even better than my LNER Pacifics (which isn’t hard to beat ). Now just waiting for my regular release of the 94xx ;)

The Bachmann pannier model doesn't look like the ideal starting point for a P4 conversion

It's one of the best running locos I own and smooth as silk.

As promised some more shots of the new pannier, although the lack of crew is very noticeable. Bachmann's lamp irons are better now and less chunky so take the Modelu lamp easier. The lack of crew also shews the firebox glow off when running , although not in photos. In the bits bag you get some etched works plates. My number will be 9440 which was built at the Robert Stephenson works.

Good evening Robin,

A very nice new loco, but what a lovely Gresley four-wheeler as well?

Your work?

Regards,

Tony.

Evening Tony.

Very nice indeed. The haulage is just as your BRM review. There seems to be a plethora of Western stuff coming through.

Yes, the D120, it's my build and paint job from the Chiver's now Five79 kit.

I had told myself I did not need one but now I have seen one on your layout Robin, temptation is getting the better of me. As I know my Granddad drove several of them in the arly 50's, I will have to give in. Time to go on Peters Sppares website.

Hmmm.

Hmmmm!

So! Will there soon be a 'bus stop' shelter at Brent after all the original buildings have been demolished.  Make sure the platforms are long enough!  Thats if the new station project actually gets the go ahead.;)

I've heard that there is talk of re-opening South Brent station.

http://www.sustainablesouthbrent.org.uk/south-brent-station-reopening-survey/

Having had a look at the original location, and at aerial photos of the site, I'm puzzled were they would find space for any platforms now.  Any ideas?

Probably on the green bits either side of the track, where the old platforms were.

Google Street View shows that quite well.

Does the proposal include vehicular access and/or car parking?

The problem with all the various proposals over the last 20+ years to reopen this station, is that they have started from the standpoint of incomplete information and understanding about the way this stretch of railway operates, in particular the implications of additional stopping services on the already too-lengthy signal sections.

The platforms would go back where they used to be and vehicular parking would probably be provided a little further along the old Kingsbridge branch formation, with a footpath linking that and the station. This is what has always been suggested in the past.

Robin,

Just a quickie, as you are more likely to have this information to hand than I, if I may, can you recall when the London-end overbridge was rebuilt into it's present, girder form, please?

Thanks.

Early to mid ‘50s and I chose to model it as it stands today, photos of the original are harder to find although obviously would have been correct for 1947.

A few more of 9487 as she rounds the curve to the fiddle yard. I've just had an email from Model Rail asking if I still want their 16xx I ordered.:D Here's hoping it's as good as this.
