I would expect even in normal times it would be overwhelmed by those of us who want to see and experience a ride behind her.

I worry when regulars don’t seem to be about too.  My normal course of action is to check their activity and that usually puts my mind at rest.

This time it hasn’t: last post 29 Dec “in hospital with Covid”; last visit 2 Jan.

Well we've waited an age but my Rapido/MR 16xx 1609 has arrived. I've only given it a quick test on the rolling road and it appears to run sweetly enough and here she is posed for the camera at Tigley. I'm going to shorten the front coupling as it stands out too far for my liking. A proper photo job/review will be done over the weekend.

I’d booked last year and credit to the SVR who fully refunded me (I’ve donated some back) as they did for my aborted Santa visit.  This event is popular, I just about managed to book on the first train for the Saturday.  SVR have done a good job here.  They’ve arranged a schedule such that you book a compartment for the day and across the three round trips, you’ll get hauled by each loco.  Looking forward to it not least as I’ve barely been out of the house since November!

ps - though I’ve not told my wife, trip will also include passing by both a Bathams pub and Bewdley Brewery to stock up....

As promised a few more photos of 1609, now with a shorter coupling fitted using a modified Kadee No.18. As said elsewhere the weight is very good so haulage will be more than adequate for my needs. Here she is on a short, ten wagon freight of various vans and Newton toad. Several photos in the Peter Gray albums shew here running bunker first. The lamp irons take a Modelu lamp and they're metal and fine. So far it seems that she is a fine addition to my '57 roster to compliment 9440 on various duties. More anon.

Talking of 9440 and here she is fresh out of @toboldlygo new workshop, now with improved lighting.  Fox cab-side and smokebox numbers were used.

Unlike most Fox ex-GWR Etched Plates, 9440's doesn't come with a smoke box number plate - I had to get creative with decals

A few more shots this morning of 1609 heading east on a short freight. She is going to be booked onto a passenger turn later.

That's a fine looking model loco, in a great setting.  A few years ago we would have marvelled at such a model at an exhibition.

 

I won't be rude about panniers, but will instead look forward to a similar standard model of, say, a J52.

The 16xx has a quick turnaround and is now heading west on a stopping train although the fireman forgot to change the lamp position. The lack of a crew is also very apparent.

Nice model indeed and runs as well as she looks. The bunker seems to have escaped the camera lens so far but like I said on Friday the driver side isn't as bad. I'm hoping Rapido do it in one piece on their 15xx. A final few for today as she enters Brent and beyond. I'm careful with camera angles to not give away details of a 1947 setting for a BR black, early crest model.

Fox BR smokebox numerals I presume?, perfect for GW types, too big for everyone else.
