A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

I see that the Saint class Lady Of Legend is going to the SVR for their spring gala.

I can only dream but wish the SVR and all concerned in getting such a Legend onto tracks that allow her to run a success.

I would expect even in normal times it would be overwhelmed by those of us who want to see and experience a ride behind her.

Apologies fellow humans and sheep. I contacted bigwordsmith some time ago; no response and that is worrying. Anyone know anything please?

P

I worry when regulars don’t seem to be about too.  My normal course of action is to check their activity and that usually puts my mind at rest.

This time it hasn’t: last post 29 Dec “in hospital with Covid”; last visit 2 Jan.

Paul.

Well we've waited an age but my Rapido/MR 16xx 1609 has arrived. I've only given it a quick test on the rolling road and it appears to run sweetly enough and here she is posed for the camera at Tigley. I'm going to shorten the front coupling as it stands out too far for my liking. A proper photo job/review will be done over the weekend.

1609 does look suitably at home on ANTB Robin ;)

It is a lovely model... :D

I'd rather comment about frivolity, cream teas or pasties, but is that a gap appearing between the rivets on the coal scuttle?:O  Brian.

Brian, on January 31st you said '' You guys are awfully fussy'' :D regarding the said fault.

Thanks Rob, its all about the aging process so I'd better stick to frivolity, etc.

I’d booked last year and credit to the SVR who fully refunded me (I’ve donated some back) as they did for my aborted Santa visit.  This event is popular, I just about managed to book on the first train for the Saturday.  SVR have done a good job here.  They’ve arranged a schedule such that you book a compartment for the day and across the three round trips, you’ll get hauled by each loco.  Looking forward to it not least as I’ve barely been out of the house since November!

David

ps - though I’ve not told my wife, trip will also include passing by both a Bathams pub and Bewdley Brewery to stock up....

Talking of 9440 and here she is fresh out of @toboldlygo new workshop, now with improved lighting. ;) Fox cab-side and smokebox numbers were used.

Unlike most Fox ex-GWR Etched Plates, 9440's doesn't come with a smoke box number plate - I had to get creative with decals ;)

Looks great... ;)

Nice work and the smokebox number plate looks spot on.

Another option would be the excellent range of printed smokebox number plates from Pacific Models.

Well recommended.

Cheers,

Fox BR smokebox numerals I presume?, perfect for GW types, too big for everyone else.

Keep up the good work,
